You have 3 teams in the AFC East that are 1-3 in the Pats, Dolphins, and Jets. You have two teams in the AFC south that are 1-3 in Houston and Indy and the Jaguars who are 0-4. So assuming no wildcard team comes out of there and the Bills and Titans win those divisions the East and South, and let’s be hypothetical and say the Chiefs and Ravens win the West and AFC North. That leaves at least 3 these 5 teams that the Steelers Must beat out to get at the very least a wildcard spot. And that’s the Browns, Bengals, Chargers, Raiders, and this week’s opponent the Broncos.

Now they play all of these teams again and have already lost a tiebreaker to the Raiders and the first game to the Bengals. But does anybody see the Steelers being better and winning enough games over those teams I just mentioned to have a chance to make the playoffs. I’m having a hard time seeing it. But that’s a quick look right there at exactly where they stand now and what they are up against moving forward these final 13 games if they wanna even sniff a playoff spot.

The patsies started 1-3 in 2001 and still finished regular season at 11-5. They beat the steelers (who had best record in the AFC at 13-3) in the AFCG and went on to beat the greatest show on turf in the SB.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the 2021 steelers could pull off something like this. But it has happened...

Your optimistic but you have already 3 teams in the division they are looking up at. Chiefs, bills, raiders, chargers, etc.. I just don't see it happening.

We only need Ben to get hurt like Bledsoe and have Mason Rudolph turn in to TB12 for it to happen.

Long term good news? Baker stinks. I watched a lot of that game yesterday vs. a suspect D, and he was awful. They have everything - OL, RB, TE, WR - and he still struggles to put up points.

Let's hope they win enough to pay him big $$$, a la Flacco.

More long term good news? KC is a 3-man team, and as Mahomes' cap hit continues to rise they'll lose even more of their supporting cast. I think he's more likely to having a Favre/Rodgers type of career - great stats, 1 SB - than to win multiple SBs.

If this team makes the playoffs then it won't be with Ben Roethlisberger as the QB. I have always been a huge fan of his but he is obviously done. Right now is the time to bench him if the goal is to try and make the playoffs somehow. Mason may not be the answer but I guarantee if Tomlin grew a pair and benched Ben the whole team would respond with greater effort.

If they continue to think that Ben can play at a high level then the playoffs are a pipe dream. More than likely they will finish with double digit losses and a top 5 draft pick.

Looking at the AFC.... Steelers are somewhere in the bottom 4 with Jets, Colts and Jaguars. Jets and Colts won yesterday.

Mayfield looks like the 2nd coming of Neil O'Donnell. Good enough to get his "good" overall team to the playoffs... but will end up disappointing in the end.

17 game season and we are coming up on week 5. Way too early to predict who will and won't be in Playoffs. Still many season changing injuries to come.

I'll say this, the AFCN is going to be fun to watch. Should be a great battle between those other 3 teams.

I’d love to have what you’re smoking. Steelers right now couldn’t beat the Jags.

I applaud your passion but they will be lucky to win 4 games. Honestly I hope they have the worst record in the league maybe we can get some decent draft picks!

As an old-timer this year is reminding me of the 1969 season. The Steelers won the first game of the season and then lost the last 13 games. Chuck Noll went with the veteran Dick Shiner and stuck with him until the team was 1-8. He finally made the switch then to the young QB that everyone had been calling for all season, Terry Hanratty. Hanratty was even worse as he went 0-5 but the team ended up with the #1 pick the next year in which they drafted Bradshaw. The bad news is that there is probably no Bradshaw in next year's draft.

Being a complete optimist it’s gonna take the Steelers I think going 9-4 the last 13 games and finishing 10-7 to even remotely have a chance at 1 of those 3 wildcard spots. How do they get to 10 wins you ask and win 9 more games. Here are the games the Steelers pretty much have to win. You better win your home games with Denver, Seattle, Chicago,Detroit, and Tennessee. You need to win on the road at Minnesota and at Cincinnati. And you better find a way to split both games with the Browns and Ravens and go 2-2. I have them losing at LA to the Chargers and at KC to the Chiefs.

That’s their path to 10 wins and having any remote chance of making the playoffs. And I know that seems like a pipe dream now but that is where they are now and if the goal of this team is still to make the playoffs then that is the path its gonna take these last 13 games to do so.
