The players did screw up. The coaches didn’t call for the false starts or the holdings. They are well paid athletes and they need to be called out when applicable. Cowher did it. Noll did it. Belichik does it…

No argument there but it's also the coaches job to prepare them and have them ready.

Edit: also most coaches acknowledge the players needing to do better while accepting their own part in the loss. I don't think I have ever seen a HOF coach say to the media "Hey look I gave them HOF coaching and these idiots just can't do it."

Reminds me of the Texans press conference introducing their new coach and he basically said he took the job because it was the one offered to him

I am concerned with the comment, we were out of bullets.

It really gets back to my thinking that MT teams are ill prepared for
everything that could happen on the football field. This is a response that is unacceptable
for a coach making 8 million dollars a year. You better find the bullets.

He brought out the popcorn phase. Perfect. Its going to be a long season. But in the end they will get a better draft position.

Our offense is dreadful and the starting QB is going to continue not practicing half the time. I wish the head coach would put his foot down on this and demand that Ben practice but we all know that will never happen.

Agree. If there was ever a time to be practicing with the young starters it's now. He could at least spread those 50+ pass attempts around more evenly during the week.

Out of bullets? Why of course. I believe they use a scripted list of plays to start the game and then reuse those that may have had some success. This is "coaching by routine", nothing new, nothing innovative, just keep doing the same things over and over. He even said he doesn't think anything will be significantly different even after 2 losses. However they may have worked in the past, its not the same team with the same level of talent anymore. So, yes, I agree that MT was out of ammo and ideas and time. JMO>

He can't (not sure if he would anyways) but this is the problem when QB's can go over the coaches head to the owner. Remember Ben and Art negotiated his coming back without Tomlin or Colbert. Doesn't excuse that Tomlin is cupcake coach though.

Closest I remember is when Singletary called out one of his players and said he was "uncoachable" Ben looks, to me, to be disinterested this season.

Ben tends to fall back on his security blanket and this year it’s DJ. With DJ out, he seemed lost and there’s no excuse for that with Claypool, JuJu, Muth and even Washington on the roster.

I'm glad Steelers don't play Jets, Giants, Colts or Jags this year. These games would be those typical "Tomlin losses" against horrific teams. Actually, those 4 teams are the only ones worse than the Steelers right now. Looking at the upcoming schedule... Lions and Bears are gonna tough to win at home.

Honestly, I don’t really think Ben is coachable either, certainly not at this stage of his career.

You're probably right. They should just let him throw TD # 400 and thank him for his service. Unfortunately, that leaves Rudolph, :puking 5: and Haskins, :puking 3:

That's what 3 uncoachaplayers in the last 3-4 years? Hmmm.
HOF players n'at. Troy wasn't thrilled with the teams direction before he left also.

If we want the higher draft pick play Haskins. If Tomlin wants a chance to keep his non-losing record in tact, play Rudolph.

It'd be nice if they could bring in someone not named Newton, Rivers, or Krapyerdick and try to salvage this season. There's still 14 games left......
