What is going on with Dotson?

He missed practice for awhile, now he's running with the second team.

kind of feels like a motivational tactic to me...not sure what Dotson did but I suspect he'll still be the week 1 starter. I also wonder if its related to the out of shape fiasco from a couple weeks ago

 

I also have no idea as to what is going on with Dotson. I was certain he would be ready for Training Camp and yet, no sign of him. Should Rashaad Coward prove his mettle during the Pre Season while Dotson is still sidelined.... Coward is likely our Week One starter. Coward has had been looking good in Training Camp per reports and it is now time to see if he can continue to do so.

 

Could it be that the much ridiculed story that the team wasn’t happy with Dotsons off season training might be true???

 

Maybe Dejan Kovacevik knew what he was talking about a few weeks ago.

 

Has he been practicing? This article implies he has not.

Tomlin said it was good to have him back on the field after missing the last three weeks of training camp, but it's not time to award him anything. For now, Rashaad Coward will continue to take first-team reps at left guard.

According to this article from Steelers Depot, Kevin Dotson is running with the 2nd team and Tomlin doesn’t seem happy with Dotson . I know there was a report about him not being in shape or not working in the off-season , even tho there was some evidence to refute that via social media. Which doesn’t tell a whole story at all . Something must be up with this guy , where there’s smoke ..usually there’s fire . Hope not tho . Tomlin said he hasn’t earned first team reps . Somethings up

Something is definitely not right with Dotson. I think we all felt he could be a foundation piece on this new line. I hope it all comes together for him.

 

UDFA David Moore from Grambling was just cut from the Panthers.

I'm not sure if he was just not cutting it or not. Q It appears they needed another position due to injury.

Either way he was one of my favorite inside OL in the draft

He could be in Tomlin's doghouse. Or maybe take it at face value, and there is no smoke or fire.

The guy had a minor injury. Leave in the guy for preseason games who took 1st team reps in practice, until the other guy is healthy and playing at a high level.

 

Have not got a clue and after reading the article have no further clue. It does appear Klemm and MT are trying to build a fire in these guys. The O line play last week certainly is a work in progress, but there was a passion to finish the play we have not seen in a while. Perhaps he is in the doghouse, or just MT's way of saying nothing will be given by past experience, work hard and earn it.

 

my first guess is that it sounds like a nagging injury that won't heal right, but I saw his training video he put out over the summer to defend against out of shape concerns, and there was no nagging injury of any sort in that video, I now think its both motivational for Dotson and also Tomlin being pleasantly surprised with Coward

 

Just seems odd because he seemed to be a solid player last year , he’s young, several websites had him listed as a 2nd year break out player ... And now a journey man is taking his reps. You would think if he was injured early and is good now he would be running with the ones. It is a little concerning . Maybe not a big deal ,but he seemed poised to almost be a star in the making and it’s his 2nd year in the system coming up

 

Finney was knocking some people around in the game from the left guard spot as well.

 

he Needs the reps , he’s young and our line needs all the help it can get . If he needs motivated already , that’s an issue . If Tomlin has to hold out a 2nd year guy to motivate him I am concerned

 

It's funny how fast everyone was to brush that off.

I think it's a motivation tactic. Maybe people are reading into it to much.

I think the message is you have to work to be on the 1st team it's not given based on reputation

It was poorly-sourced clickbait. It's possible that it was true, but I doubt it.

This reads more like Tomlin was saying Dotson needed to earn his way into the lineup after missing time early in camp.

highly paid athletes don"t get it. That this is their job, they need to be prepared and ready to go
for the team benefit. Mentally, physically and bring passion to their work.
