At first I was loving the play by play but some of these guys are maybe giving up a little too much intel.

I just hope they are not Pat spies. :icon e biggrin:

You think that camp this early is just evaluation?

It's an open practice. Other teams could get tickets and send scouts if they really wanted to (they don't).

If this is the equivalent of the Manhattan Project, take the team to some undisclosed location, ban Media coverage, execute the players you cut before they can let the Wile E Canada super genius offense to other teams.

But this isn’t the Manhattan Project, it’s friggin football. There will be plenty of tape available to everyone on every team, after the preseason and a couple of week into the reg season. If the Steelers stink this yr, it wont be because of training camp spies

You are making me feel better already. What got me thinking this crazy was a slight wrinkle of a sweep using the 2nd year RB out of Maryland where he took it to the house that was TE heavy.

So I am thinking god film study by the Bills will know when this kid comes in with a heavy TE package to watch for this sweep play.

Bruce Arians had some packages where I know the LBs who studied their film were able to sniff out some short yardage plays. Also BA doesnt like using FB if I recall.

The goal is to be able to run multiple concepts/plays out of the same formation/personnel grouping. Hopefully the days of Chris Rainey or Dri Archer running onto the field with a flashing red light on their helmet are long gone.

Its funny you mention those two but that was the first and only time I witnessed a football player brace for impact so obviously that I honestly think it affected his ability to avoid contact.

If you watch film of the kickbacks you can actually see them clam up as they enter the first wave of the gunner.

I think Julian Edelman was a punk but that dude never shied away from contact.

I agree it is best to do as much as you can from the same groupings , but if you do use specialist you can't play checkers you have to play chess.. The biggest reason those plays never worked is because they had no element of surprise..If you seen the tape you knew the play...For example if the new OC wants to use Dobbs some then he needs to Boot him and throw it deep and run him on that edge as well..This forces the D to stretch ,he should also have a Boot reverse run and a Boot throwback pass and screens to the backside this forces the D to be mindful and to stay at home and so on..

Of course you run the QB draw every once in awhile keeping guys honest as well with the next step being the QB draw pass it can be the TE dump or quick crosser or even the step back and go deep.. My point is no set or package is good if you don't run multiple plays to multiple people in multiple directions ..

How did I know Dobbs would somehow be in this comment.

Hey PWP ....How many Gold medals will the US win in the Olympics?
PWP..Well if We bring in Dobbs as another option it will probably confused the rest of the world , and We would win more. LoL.
    You sure You're not Dobbs???
