That's one of the great things about being a Steeler fan-passing it on to the next generation. I used to watch John Henry Johnson and Bobby Layne with my dad. Then my son and I watched the teams of the 80's snd 90's and his sons were old enough to see the Super Bowl wins with Ben. Now my oldest grandson has a son, which makes me a great-grandpa, and I hope to live long enough to take him to Steeler training camp someday.

Of the 90 players who opened 2021 training camp on the Pittsburgh Steelers roster, none earned the “physically unable to perform” tag. But that doesn’t mean everyone was going full-bore during Thursday’s first practice at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex.

Mike Tomlin confirmed that guard Kevin Dotson, defensive lineman Stephon Tuitt, linebacker Devin Bush and tackle Zach Banner were, to varying degrees, limited in their participation.

Of Dotson, the second-year player who is pegged to start at left guard this season, Tomlin said: “We were taking care of him. He’ll get a day or two (off). He should be fine. I think he tweaked a little something, but it’s not anything of any concern whatsoever from a big-picture perspective.”

Bush and Banner each are recovering from suffering torn ACLs suffered during games early last season. Each was present and working Thursday, but Tomlin said the team “will be thoughtful” about their usage early in camp ramping up to the regular-season opener Sept. 12 at the Buffalo Bills.

“Both guys have worked their tails off,” Tomlin said after Thursday’s practice. “

    From the Tribune Review

Tuitt? What now? Sounds like Dotson tweaked a hammy.

Dan Moore getting some quality reps with a first look in the first game? Very good indeed. Hope to hear more of him in the days to follow.

Him paying off not just early on but for the long run will pay massive dividends.

I was just watching the DK broadcast on YT. They thought Tuitt was simply because he has not been able to work out as much dealing with his brothers death. More of a precaution to bring him along slowly to get him physically back into shape.

I am anxious to see why the Steelers gave up next years 4th round pick to draft Loudermilk. Going to assume that both Heyward and Tuitt will be sitting out most of these preseason games so we should see plenty of Loudermilk and find out why the Steelers were so high on this guy.

A lot of sites projected him going undrafted with a shot to make someone's practice squad.

I didn't like the pick giving up a 4th in 2022, but they said there wasn't many guys in the draft that had his size for the DE position.

I guess at least SI had him being draft at the end of the 7th round, where NFL.com said he would not be drafted at all.

Dan Moore incurred Mike Tomlin's wrath today for being a bit too enthusiastic in a practice without pads. Cam Heyward set Mr. Moore straight.

    https://triblive.com/sports/steeler...offensive-line-bare-at-center-in-3rd-workout/

Rookie fourth-rounder Dan Moore got extensive time at left tackle again Saturday while Chuks Okorafor nursed a minor injury.

Moore made his presence felt when he mixed it up with defensive linemen Isaiah Buggs and Cameron Heyward on consecutive snaps. In each instance, Moore had to be separated and pushed away from the scrum by teammates.

Tomlin didn’t sound happy with the rookie’s conduct, although he didn’t discuss the specifics of either incident.

“I’m not interested in coaching that,” he said. “We work our tails off to compete but keep it professional. We acknowledge sometimes tempers are going to flare, and that is going to happen, but we are not wasting one iota of our time coaching it. We’re putting together a rough-and-tumble football group, not an MMA squad, so we’re not coaching it.”

I predicted this type of thing would happen a lot this year. You can't have aggressive players and not have the corresponding behaviors. Most of the rookies are trying to solidify their spots while the vets want to stay healthy through camp. You can't flip a switch and turn that stuff off.
