Could 1982 have been One For The Thumb?

Not in SBXXII. Broncos were up 10-0... and then Redskins went on a tear.

'84 for sure, if the Steelers had drafted Marino. I was going to say '84 was the start of Steelers QBs throwing 3 picks in championship games, but Bradshaw started the trend in Super Bowl XIV. Then XXX, AFCCG in '97, AFCCG in '01, AFCCG '04, without looking at the rest of Ben's career game log.

Also '84 Niners would have probably smoked the Steelers like they did the Dolphins.

So that's where you're planting the "Elway hated RBs, too" flag? In one game in which his team trailed 35-10 at the half?

OK, then name some Broncos RBs that started from 1983-1994. Sammy Winder is the only one I can think of.... off the top of my head. After '95... they had TD, Anderson, Gary, Droughns, Portis... all league leaders in rushing.

I have nothing to add to this post but it needed to be read again.

Steelers have been great with drafting or signing UDFA WRs since late 60s with Roy Jefferson, Ronnie Shanklin, Frank Lewis, of course Swann and Stallworth, Jimmy Smith, Louis Lipps, Thigpen, Mills, Hastings, Charles Johnson, H. Ward, Plaxico, Randle El, AB, Sanders, Wallace, JuJu, Claypool, and DJ currently. The Steelers foundational philosophy probably would have kept Marino in check.

I remember Bobby Humphrey and Gaston Green... also Steve Sewell but he was a receiving back.

This is only because my mind lives in the past though, so your point probably stands.

You're moving the goalposts. The Elway Broncos ran the ball more than Marino Dolphins, doesn't matter who the RBs were.

True. Almost as bad as Patriots cheating.

Please. Marino would have added some hardware common, at least one. Mindless that they didn't draft him.

The Steelers had the number one rush defense. I would take the odd vs Riggins.
