My stepdaughter's dad is a huge waste of air and recently his mother, my SD's grandmother, passed away from cancer. My stepdaughter is old enough to know her dad is a drug addict so she could handle the funeral. Her half sister who had her dad walk out on her, left her with us until we could get an aunt and uncle to take her in was another story. I was in the dog house for suggesting that after 2 yrs in therapy perhaps having her grandma's death in the foreground wasn't a good thing to have her see the dad that walked out on her. Somehow I was the bad guy for bringing it up. It really is a crap thing for kids.

I have 2 stepdaughters as well. Their biological father never even was present during either of their births. He will now likely spend the rest of his breathing days in prison. I don't like to toot my own horn but I think I raised them much better since they were 2 and 3 years old than he ever would have. Both are now in their mid 20's, have good jobs and own their own houses.

I think that was the case with Derrick Thomas when he died tragically with no will in place to handle his estate and his baby mama's were fighting over it. Same type of thing like 8 kids with six different mothers.

No names being said , but I personally knew a guy that in High School his folks who had money died and it resulted in a big suit. He was left with over 12 million in a trust fund.
Buy the time He was 25 he was working in the mall at a clothing store, and had his House up for sale because he couldn't afford taxes on it. He had like 45 thousand left in the Bank.
Which at the time wasn't chump change, but a Hell of a long way from 12 mill.
