You really think that the Steelers just take the players word when deciding to sign someone?
    Come on man.

He didn’t pan out because of the concussions, but he did play in a hand full of games and I don’t think for a second that he told the Steelers “yeah I’m 100%” and they said ok who do I make the check out to.

Turner has a history of concussions, he missed time 2016-2019 because of them.

During the back nine of his career though. Rather... after the 2010 Season.. in which Troy was beginning to pile up the injuries.

I would have loved to seen a 2 year contract, but at 3 million I can't complain at Turner will just be eating the scraps thrown on the flood by Decastro's release and not even all the scraps.

Next year we will be right back in panic mode needing to sign starting offensive lineman.

According to Troy, the league considers a little buzzed or dazed a concussion, going by those standards he says every football player has between 50-100 concussions every year.

I’d say Troy wasn’t the only one with a concussion problem. It obviously didn’t keep him from playing, especially since he said he lied to stay in games.

    This is interesting.

On March 12, the Chargers released G Trai Turner - age 28. and replaced him on March 17 when they signed G Matt Feiler age 28. Feiler will make about $3M this year.
Now the Steelers have signed Turner, and he'll make about $3M this year.

The green looks greener on the other side? You don't know what you got till it's gone? One man's trash is another man's treasure?

I realize, it's not quite equivalent. Feiler got a nice signing bonus and a 3 yr deal, Turners is only one year. Makes you wonder if the Steelers might have kept Feiler, with DeCastro's money if they knew DeCastro was done.

Unfortunately NFL football is not safe to play. They are trying to make it safer but it will never be safe. Too many blows to the head and evidence is showing that it isn't just the big ones that do long term damage.

Yes, the lineman have it the worst because they constantly exchange blows, those “little” shots add up.

Weird... An average guard who has been to the Pro Bowl 5 times in 7 years.

Hasn't played a full season Since 2016"; of cource he did make the ProBowl in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019

DeCastro made the Pro Bowl last yr and the last 4-5 yrs before. He’s was a avg guard the last two yrs.

It is and it isn’t. Guys with multiple Pro Bowls are almost always exceptional players. Guys with 8 or more are usually HoFers. On the other hand, lots of guys get a yr or two of Pro Bowls based on reputation ves performance. If you’re on the OL where there are no statistics, it’s easier for rep to dominate. A great RB that has a 500 yd season generally doesn’t get the ProBowl nod that a fading OG might get.

DeCastro was average last season, so Turner might be an upgrade assuming he's fully healthy.
