Batch didn't help his cause by dropping the TD pass from AB. Nice job by Dwyer and great blocking by the OL.

Yeah that was a heart breaker or whatever there...he normally is pretty good catching the ball...but yeah...that was bad...I feel sorry for him...he's done everything thats been asked of him/etc...and then he looks back for the ball and just had his hands a little to far a part and that was that. But it happens...i know last week he carried the load when Mendy and Redman went out and he did fine by me. But I definitely think for that last "hat" it'll be between Batch and Dwyer...maybe they can rotate them or something who knows.

Either way...I still like the "stable" of the 5 backs they have right now...they all seem to bring something different and are usually reliable when called upon.

the problem being that the type of run game and the players we have they need to get a continual feed and just keep chipping away. The rotation seems to be hampering that at times. Bettis was way more efffective late in the third and fourth when they wore down a defense than when he got a handful of carries in the first half. Dwyer tonight benefited from being the primary and getting lots of touches, if they start having to give out five or six carries to four different backs I think it will regress the run game.

I dont mean like rotate them during the game (unless the game calls for this for whatever reason)...I'm just talking about who gets to dress...as usually one of the 5 doesnt dress when all 5 are healthy. I definitely agree with what you said about most of the time the same back being in a majority of the game helps them/etc. Just like tonight and even Mendy's first game back...they both did well. And got spelled when needed and Rainey got his handful of snaps as usual which is fine.

Shhhhhhhhhhh he's a back up  and too small! I also like Dwyer. 1 thing i like about hime that i dont see in Mendy or Red is that he finishes runs...I think he's one of those backs the more ya feed the better he gets...

This makes 3 straight games the Steelers have a RB who combined for over 100 total yards running and receiving, and each game it was a different player. Continue to ride the hot hand!

    I am convinced

Dwyer can handle the backup roll. They can cut or trade Redman!!! I think Mendy, Dwyer and Rainey would make a good RB core.

Boy has Redman fallen from the graces.

Not to give Dwyer or Rainey credit, but last night was the best run blocking we have had all season.

Not to mention using a fullback helped things tremendously, IMO.

O.K. Well I guess I did mention it.

I really like the way Dwyer runs the ball. He hits the hole hard and doesnt dance around in the backfield. He did a great job tonight!! :clapping:

Redman's career YPC is about 2 yards less than Dwyer's. THAT speaks volumes.

That was terrible!! How much easier can it be?? A perfectly designed play and Batch totally whiffs.

I think the one large distinction between Dwyer and Redman is their big play ability. That is the item I see as the largest contrast. Redman would have gone for 10-15 yards on that last run....Dwyer went for a whole lot more. If you watch his college tape, Dwyer just constantly seems to be breaking 1 tackle and rumbling for a BUNCH of yards.

I thought I was watching the Sweed play all over again, only difference is that Batch didn't lay on the field and cost us a time out.

The difference between Mendy and Dwyer is Mendy has that studder step and the holes close fast. Dwyer do not and is able to square his shoulders and pick up big yards.

Mendenhall would have had over 150 yard in this game had he been in and healthy. Dwyer played well and I was impressed with his nimble footwork. To those comparing him to Bettis - not even close. Bettis was bigger, had better feet, and hit harder. One good game and people get a little carried away. Bettis was a once in a generation type back.

But that's the thing, it's not just one good game. Dwyer has been successful every time he's gotten an opportunity. His opportunities have been limited but he has had success when he's been on the field. Look at his YPC. This guy had over 6YPC in college and is averaging about 5.5+ in limited action in the NFL. Mendy's average YPC last year was 4.1. I'm not saying Dwyer is a better RB than Mendy, but he is head and shoulders better than Redman and should be the backup to Mendy at worst and we ought to give hime 12-18 carries a game.

Is he the big back who can beat off defenders that we've been waiting for?
