How so? We will wait and see. Nothing is written in stone yet. If he starts fine if he sits a game or half a season fine. If he sits all season it means someone is playing well in front of him this year. He's here for 4 years.

Apparently only players drafted in round 1 and 2 are capable of cracking the lineup in their first season. Someone want to tell Dotson that, would be news to him.

But they all will have a nearly identical starting point which will be a good thing.

I’m convinced the people bitching about these picks haven’t watched a minute of tape and instead are forming their opinions around what round they were taken.

They also don’t consider scheme fit, his style of play is tailor made for outside zone. Remind me again what we’ll be running :hmm:

His skills also lie in run blocking, remind me again what area we are trying to improve in :hmm:

People are knocking Green for short arms but wanted to draft Humphreys. Remind me how long Humphreys arms are :hmm:

Remind me what blocking scheme Humphreys excels at :hmm:

Scheme and fit matters. I wanted Humphreys too but after digging into it, I can see why they went with Green and in the process got the second best TE in the draft. Those dummies.

You know that's always the case. I have my occasional gripes, like anyone, but I really love this draft. I think Green starts this season and we may end up with several players who start/play-a-lot down the road. After the top 4, guys like Buddy, Qunicy, Norwood, and Brown could stay and play.

That isn't necessarily true. Just because he isn't good enough to play as a rookie doesn't mean the guys ahead of him are good.

That is a Tomlin thing that just drives me crazy. The next man up is playing better than the one out for an injury but you don't lose your starter job due to injury doesn't matter if you are playing better or not. Dotson was outplayed Fieler but they inserted Fieler right back at LG when he came back. At some point are they trying to win games or are the just about propping guys up who aren't making the grade?

Ultimately just one of the many contributing factors to that loss but sitting Dotson was a terrible call.

I've said it's one of my things about Mike T.
Loyal 2 a fault on some players. Remember Troy P.??? He was still pushing him out 2 play when we were better off without him. Before anyone says anything. I'm a Huge 3 Jersey having Troy P. fan, but he played beyond his do date.

    1. Being short really is not a disadvantage when it comes to blocking, especially on the interior. A lower center of gravity helps with leverage. See: Aaron Donald.

    2. His arms are slightly longer (32 1/2" vs 32") than Corey Linsley, 2020's First-Team All-Pro Center. He is also 4 pounds heavier than Linsley is currently listed at and 9 pounds heavier than Linsley coming out of college while being 1 inch shorter. Honestly, the only measurable Linsley excelled at was the bench press (36 reps) and he is the best center in the league. To top it off he was drafted in the fifth round. Kendrick is much more explosive than Linsley and has slightly better size, the only thing to worry about with him is technique.

Too Long; Did not read: If Kendrick is undersized then so is the best center in the league.

I saw that comp earlier and it encouraged me. Don't remember Linsley much from OSU to be honest, did he fall just because of measurables?

I want Green to be the next Linsley, but if he is I don't think it's going to be immediate. Two of the sites I respect most - SteelersDepot and PFF, because they put in the detailed film work -- both point out his positives AND negatives. I'd be pleasantly surprised if Finney isn't the opening day starter.

Articles and tidbits like that are what makes me believe that they are looking at a unit on OL of Banner, DD, Green , Dotson, and whoever gets their nasty on for LT. Finney and JC will keep backup roles but sounds like Klemm has who he wants already in mind.

I like hearing the words like nasty and mean when associated with the interior lines. Many times these guys are so close in size and skill that attitude can help make the difference.

The Steelers OL was soft last season, hopefully Klemm gets these guys to play with some attitude.

Thats pretty crazy for a guy his size. Writer loses some points for getting his height wrong but still a good article, love Greens attitude.
