with so many to sign next year and watt and minka having to be signed this kind of makes sense. no use having two safeties in their 5th year option costing 10 mil. each. maybe a deal can be reached for less. i know one thing, i will have to use my program this year to identify who is who on the field.

    Not too shocked.

I think Edmunds is a stand up guy (good character) , if he were taken in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th round, you feel a lot better about him.

But, since he's a 1st round pick, he is a fan favorite to gripe about. I think he's an average to good player, just not a great player.

You would like to see more splash plays out him.

This will probably means he will play his best, since we didn't 5th year option him, and he is due to be a FA.

This. Great kid, works hard. It isn't his fault where he was drafted. But I honestly think he is what he is at this point. Slightly better than average talent who, IMO has just about peaked. It was not a good pick. And like Don Corleone said; "I believed that then, and I believe that now."

They are going to dump him and steal his brother from the Bills :lolol:

    Wishful thinking.

I thought they’d pick up the option at $6.5m but this isn’t a massive surprise either. I think there is a reasonable chance they extend him anyway, this does lessen their risk if he sustains a serious injury during the season.

    Another great Tomlin pick :lolol:

Shocker football family and great parents doesn't = production on the field. Didn't Tomlin go to college with his mom or something?

I understand you want as much continuity between positions. Edmonds has made strides but to me not enough to warrant the 5th year option. Not a surprise.

No team is going to pay him 6 million a year. Good chance he stays a Steeler at a lower price tag. I don't see teams rushing to sign him for any more than the Steelers will pay him.

Society we live in today. Kind of glad social media wasn’t around when I was younger.

He didn’t bad mouth anyone, so no big deal to me.

Edmunds is solid... I mean he’s not first round caliber but he’s been improving. I’m willing to bet he will be a stud by 2035
