Here is another quick RAS update if applying the 285lbs he currently weighs.

    https://relativeathleticscores.com/...1&bn=21&vt=28.5&bd=904&sh=4.55&cn=7.52&pos=DT

Again, sadly the site does not have a 3-4 DE as an option here. That said, in Pittsburgh's Scheme, that term is interchangeable. Scoring an 8.06 is quite good overall.

As I said, did not expect this pick but Karl Dunbar is the guy who can teach raw Defensive Lineman some good fundamentals. Let us hope Loudermilk is a quick study.

Did you mean Steelers fans pin to much hopes on it? Not sure what you mean, the steelers org and every NFL team have to pin their hopes (after due diligence) on the draft, it is the foundation for the every team in the league. As for fans they to have to pin their hopes on it, where WE come up short is buying into all of the fantasy mocks leading up to the draft. As if all the media experts and fansperts really know who a team is going to draft.

I personally love that AQL and Hack, among others take the time to establish an in depth players, it gives us something to talk about, but never do I feel like any of us really know how these guys selected are going to pan out. This year in particular I thought way to much emphasis was being placed on the ability to find instant starters for this team. We did find 4 starters from last year (if you include Minkah) and so far it looks like they all will provide quality play. If we can get that this year I will be thrilled. Getting 8 young starters in 2 years is a solid foundation for a rebuild

If he is 285lbs already, I do not understand what the point would be. Or is he still 276lbs from his Pro Day?!

    Huh?! Pinning hopes?!

No one is clairvoyant in the NFL; the Steelers doubly so. That said, Pittsburgh has done a stellar job drafting since 2000; Five HOF players to their credit since then (likely more on the way). Given the fact that the NFL Draft is a crapshoot for all intensive purposes, to find that many HOF Players in two decades?! I think 25+ teams in the NFL would love that problem.

I don't like them giving up a 2022 4th rd pick for him, it wasn't a position of need this season.

DL coach Karl Dunbar's quote about trading up for Loudermilk:

"A good DL is like a pretty woman. everybody wants one but there aren't a lot of them."

Maybe they're counting on comp picks awarded to soften the blow. Not sure what rounds are involved though.

They may be banking on someone like Nelson, coming to their senses and realizing there's not a market out there for the money their asking and will take a year deal at a reduced price as a gamble on themselves like a lot of other players are doing. Better than sitting around and not making anything.

You don't make day 3 picks for immediate need. That said, this is a head scratcher. Don't like trading away future capital for such a project.

That's what Colbert said in the press conference, I still don't like it, DL wasn't really a position of need this year.

Actually, getting some youth up front was a need. I'm not thrilled about giving up the 2022 draft pick, but the player isn't a bad choice at all.
