This. You got arguably the best RB in the draft (I tend to think Williams might be) and now should be able to get a lineman in rd 2.

This is why you don’t reach.

He is basically saying thr Steelers pokerface sucks and that they pretty much take a full page advertisement out to telegraph their picks.

I don't. Not unless they hit some homers drafting some linemen.

They didn’t. 632 pundits doing their own mock drafts picked it. That’s all. It didn’t come from the Steelers. That’s just your fantasy and a few others.

This business about the Steelers "telegraphing" their picks is cow dung. You people realize that every other franchise studies what teams ahead of them might do and some of them are real good at it, probably all of them. Hell, there are probably grade school aged fans out there that knew that the Steelers were taking Harris if he was there. Let's not get carried away trying to find or create issues where there aren't any.

Actually, running back was one of the Steelers' problems. Conner was the only back on that team who had any business being a starter in the NFL and he's gone. Snell is a decent backup. McFarland isn't even that. Yes, the blocking was a problem last season. So was an entire running back group that consistently made the wrong cut. Harris fixes that problem.

Watching the pre RD4 ESPN draft show. Maurice Jones-Drew and LaDanian Tomlinson love the Harris pick. Obviously they would, both being ex NFL RB's with pedigree. They both feel they he's very comparable to Lev Bell in all facets. Plus, MJD has a unique insight into Harris' background. Both are from Antioch, California and MJD coached a Cal state championship high school team against Harris' team. He said in spite of all the game planning and preparation that went in to stopping him, he still ran for over 130 yards. Interesting take.

I like Etienne too. Watched him run over my Noles more than once. Just wanted to hear thoughts outside of not liking the pick. Harris may not fit this year with Ben. Ben is a short timer, and I think Ben’s style is the “fit” issue.

Yeah, as bad as they were in run blocking...a little more vision and there were some runs to be had.

I watched every game this kid played. He's a great player. One and only problem, I still don't like RBs in the 1st. That's all. You could let me pick any back in the league right now, know how good they are, and I still wouldn't take them in the 1st.
    Just my opinion.
Again I think he is extremely good.

God, I hope you are right! I may have become jaded in my old age, but it always seems your heroes let you down in one way or another eventually.

Either way, I'm rooting for him to succeed.

    Agreed 100%.

Najee was a Top 20 player coming into this draft. Derrick Henry was universally regarded as a Top 40 player. Derrick Henry is the classic "Battering Ram" than can absorb an immense amount of punishment and still continue to move on. Najee is a Thinking Man's Back, one of the best ones to come out in a long time.

Now that I actually think about it, looking back at his 2017 vs. Najee's 2020 tape, there are some (high emphasis on this word mind) similarities between Najee and SaQuon Barkley. No seriously, turn some of SaQuon's 2017 tape on and then compare that to Najee's. Their running styles are near identical; their versatility doubly so. I did have Najee graded out higher as a blocker but SaQuon was the far superior back in every other category. That said, both possess special instincts, vision and Football IQ that one just cannot teach.

Again, some semblance of Barkley but not 100%. Then again, if Najee had Barkley's superior athleticism alone and dynamic breakaway speed, Najee is easily a Top 10 pick in this class and would not have fallen to us in any capacity.

    Agreed.

Troy did in 2014. To his credit though, he was at the end of the line.... a truly disheartening one at that. Some say 2012 too but I discount that as that entire defense, along with some very questionable Dick LeBeau play calling that year as well, did not do any favors.

As I noted pre draft, Unless a more aggressive approach towards our OL run game. (I suggested atleast 2 OL in this draft)
1 being starter capable.) that the Steelers will not advance beyond a 500 team. We have got to get back
to our identity of physical football for the Steelers to be competitive until we can get a QB capable of making all the plays. That Qb is not
    on the team right now.

But but but he only runs through gaping holes.

Say goodbye to being stuffed on short yardage.
