How do you know they were receiving calls?

The link you posted only says that Miami was trying like hell to get back ahead of the Steelers. Not that the Steelers weren't taking any calls or even had a call.

    Reading too much into that.

Ive got to hope that with a new OL coach, who you know has been given the assignment of teaching these guys how to actually run block, and a new OC in Matt Canada, the team figured they had linemen on the roster that can do the job, plus they drafted a couple in rounds 3&4. Never know who might become available to shore up the center position.

I have seen a post where someone said "time to call Villanueva." Im a big fan of Villanueva especially as a person. I respect what he stands for. I just wonder if he can still do what Adrien Klimm and Matt Canada want him to do with the new offense. It has been so apparent for the last couple of years or more that really the only goal of the OL was to keep Ben upright. Ben being upright is of course a good thing, but these OLinemen have got to get back to the basics of run blocking. They are going to have to get all the way down in 3 point stances and not just lean over and be ready to backpedal to keep the defensive rush from getting to Ben. They got a stud RB-absolute stud, but even he isnt going to be able to be effective without a new game plan for the OL. And if this can happen, Ben wont have to throw the ball 40x per game or more.

Mel Kiper Jr is just looking for click bait. Say something that riles up a passionate fan base like Pittsburgh's and folks will click on it just to get ticked off. I got to hope and pray that Kevin Colbert knows more about the Steelers' needs and their plans and how to build a team. In all the years I have watched Mel Kiper Jr, I have never seen the name GM Mel Kiper, Jr. Mel studies the players and maybe PIT didnt get a bunch of elite names with their draft, but Im hoping that AKlimm, MCanada, Tomlin all are about changing the offensive thinking and getting Ben some help. Najee can help in a big way. Just get the OL to make some holes and he will find them. That more than anything will keep Ben upright and maybe along the way, surprise some folks who are most assuredly written the Steelers off.

Did you read it? They were thrilled Harris was available and ran to get him.

Silly Steelers actually drafting the guy they wanted when their pick comes around. What were they thinking!?

Nothing in that article supports your theory that they received calls just that it wouldn’t have mattered if they did.

Story sounds like bs, if Miami wanted him that bad, they would have taken him at 18 knowing the Steelers would likely grab him at 24.

Again though, as @santeesteel already stated... why not draft him with the 18th overall pick?! Did they really feel that Jaelen Phillips was going to be picked up by Indy or even Tennessee at that point?! If that is the case then that really is not a good indicator of due diligence by either Brian Flores or Chris Grier in terms of placing the value of a player versus the value of a position.

For that matter, did Azeez Ojulari not make the cut for them as he is tailor made to be a 3-4 OLB. Given that, Miami could have just traded up to acquire him in the second round given their ammo. If anything, Azeez profiles a bit better for the Dolphins given the fact that Flores has considerable experience working with speed rushers like Azeez.

In short?! LaCanfora really is making the situation worse for Miami assuming those injury woes continue for Phillips and if Harris balls out in Year One.

Don’t expect an actual well thought response. I’m still awaiting an answer on another false statement he made, as are 6 others above.

The phantom trade down opportunities are always a popular post draft claim.

Colbert said after the draft they had 8 guys they were willing to pick at 24. They had several options when they picked.

    Why would they?

Again, you said they weren’t answering any calls. Are you now admitting you made this up?

Please don’t make stuff up and post it. This is a highly respectable board.

And again, you are just making BS up. The other 7 could have been the previous 7 picks. You don’t know this but you posted it anyway.

I'm OK with Harris but would've preferred Williams instead ...I think Alabama's O-line help make Harris shine where Williams had to scrap for his glory...
