Now I feel sick. The Steelers could have gotten the 36th pick AND another 3rd, and still gotten Javonte Williams.

If Harris isn't an instant HOF talent, this was a terrible pick.

Where does it say they could have gotten the 36 and a 3rd? All i see is where Dolpins was trying to move ahead of us?

I'm not sure I believe it...I believe that they wanted to trade back up.... but everyone knew Harris was going to the Steelers. They should have drafted Harris at 18 and had a much easier time trading back up for the edge player.

You are assuming a lot. You are assuming the Steelers get a 3rd. You are assuming Javonte falls to 36. This would mean he gets past Jets and the Falcons, both of whom, are desperate for a running back.

The Steelers found their guy. I really think Najee is who they wanted all along. I doubt they would have agreed to move back for an extra 3rd rounder.

    A) Anything La Canfora has to say needs to be not just taken with a grain of salt but the whole salt shaker.

    B) Who cares if it is true, this is obviously who the Steelers wanted and if Miami is trying to trade up for him, only speaks more highly of Harris.

I would have liked the move back , but not for just a 3rd. ,,Unless we had a deal in place for our 2 3rds and a 4th. to become a high 2nd. now that I would go for..I do think Williams will be as good as Harris though .I had Etienne ranked above them both ..

They said the same about Edmunds. Nobody ever heard of him until draft night but all of a sudden many teams considered him a top 10 pick and Andy Reid, Belicheck, and Arians were all willing to Ditka their drafts to move up for him, but the Steelers knew how valuable he was.

It's a way to sell the pick to people who aren't drinking the Kool-aid.

If the Dolphins were in love with Najee, why not take him at 18?

Javonte Williams makes more contact than either Etienne or even Harris. For that matter, Javonte Williams is the classic, throwback runner that a team that does not rely on a bell cow could ask for. Yes, he has the ability to be a receiving option but as it stands now, his overall receiving ability pales in comparison to Harris. That is not even the biggest reason why I would have detested this trade.

Harris has instincts, even by elite running back standards, that one simply cannot teach. Williams does not. Trading for Willaims would have been the equivalent of selecting Artie Burns over Xaiven Howard all over again.

"NFL Insider". Every dufus with a look, a voice and a college degree can call themself an "NFL Insider" to create the appearance that they are privy to info that no one else is. As far as we know, he overheard a former 'Fins ball boy talking and regurgitated it.

Blast, you are our "NFL Insider". What say you?

Plus his first name is reminiscent of the other greatest Steelers running back, Najeh Davenport

    Just for argument sake, #36- 540 pts. Miami 3rd (#81) - 185 points. 725 points.
    Steelers #24- 740 points.
So their offering people before us (because, as the tweet says, they were trying to get in front of us), was actually of less value than what they were trying to get. That's not "trying like hell". That's looking for a bargain.

I think they were determined to get Harris for his ability as a receiver out of the backfield, Canada will find many uses for him. So much depends on Ben implementing what Canada wants, but they sure have invested in the offence in this draft.

I read that the same way.
Nothing in that said they were offering "The Steelers" anything for their pick. Just that they wanted to get back in front of the Steelers.

The point is the Steelers weren't answering any calls and ran to the podium. They really think this one guy, along with a change in scheme, is turning around the run game, offense, and team.

Damn what a shame! Oh well, we now have a quality running back instead of a bunch of decent ones.
