Everyone would have said it, but the exception doesn't disprove the rule.

I'm still wondering if we could've got him in a later rd. Good fit for us but maybe too soon?

you also have to consider scheme. Meinerz doesn’t fit what the Steelers want to do while Kendrick Green does.

Nobody? Or you? I don't follow college ball so, I don't know anything about any of these players. There were lots of people who thought Joe Greene was a wasted pick......until he wasn't. Not many people thought very highly of Montana, Rodgers, Brady but were sure that RG III and Mariotta, hell, even Johnny Football were can't misses. Give the guy a few years before you write him off!

Some tape breakdown by Alex of Steelers Depot. Lack of length and sand in pants are going to be a problem. Can get bullied if he doesn't get his hands on guys immediately.

meinerz is a poor fit in outside zone ruining schemes which Canada appears to utilize a lot.
Edit. Have to remember Colbert’s comments on Canada’s system. Basically it’s going to be a gradual rollout. Don’t have the personnel for a complete rollout.he uses a lot of play action and Ben either hates it or is terrible at it. Lol yet another reason they should have let ben ride off into the sunset. Tear the bandaid off and rebuild.

Nothing worse than sand in the pants.

My point is that he just could be one of those exceptions. Need to give him some opportunity to see what /if he is. If not, I bow to your earlier point and you're spot on.

Yes, the bigger the better right? What would be more beneficial, size or technique? Quickness vs blunt force trauma? I saw a clip of him squatting 700 lbs so size doesn't seems to inhibit his power. Not sure how many OL/DL could do this but I would think being lighter on his feet may provide some advantage with technique/ positioning. We'll see.

When he's going up against 350lbs d lineman it's considered small, he'll end up getting pushed around like Pouncey did. ( same weight)

Being an undersized C is probably what shorten his career, the guy was always injured in his final 2 or 3 seasons. Decstro is 320 , he doesn't look slow to me, they can be 320, 330 and still move. 300lbs belongs on the outside, not in the trench.

no doubt, I think they’re inflating his height too
No matter, he’s that stocky dude you grow up with that can move and is geared just a notch above everyone else.

when you see a guy move like he does at 300 plus you do a double take.
    Again, love the pic

Is why I hope they play him at Guard trying to snap and then get back into position is much harder on a smaller Center than a big one.. Plus Pouncey was best in space and we mainly play 3-4 Teams in our division..This means the Center is covered most of the time and covered head up..When you play a 4 man DL the Center may be covered either inside I or Outside I rarely head up shaded in other words.. So the place for a smaller OL who is good on the move is at Guard where your set and set balance can almost assure he is shaded or uncovered..

This allows them to pull youse their speed and distance as force making a 315 OL much more Powerful in motion.. As I have stated many times my Favorite OL build in Big,Athlete,Big,Athlete,Big A simple concept anchor the middle and anchor the edges use Guards to double Team pull and block 2nd. and even 3rd. level .. It allows you to be more diverse in run calling and not be a 1 sided running team..

Kendrick is short, not small. He is stockier than Pouncey was considering they are the same weight and he is 2 inches shorter. Hell, he only weighs 6 pounds less than the tackle we just drafted and I doubt anyone has a problem with his size. 350 lb defensive tackles are going the way of the Dodo, so do not worry about him being overwhelmed.

He is an explosive guy. In addition to the 700 lb squat he leapt 9' 11" in the broad jump.

    As do I.

A top 50 player falling into one's laps in Round 3?! I will take that 9/10. Was one of the best Interior Offensive Lineman in the class overall and one of the more versatile. Had him ranked even over Josh Myers in my final cut.

    Steal.

If he can challenge Finney and beat him before the Season starts, Pittsburgh's Rushing Attack will be on the fast track to relevance sooner rather than later.

    Yep.

Cannot blame that either. After Humphrey and even Dickerson... Interior Offensive Lineman, Center rather, gets a bit dicey.
