Gah, hope they don't reach for Assante Samuel as a result.

"Gun in car"? Ohio is "open carry". How do they arrest you for that? And suspended license? Seems kind of overkill.
Don't think this one is a career ender.

Obviously I'm not a Pro Athlete, and have never grown up living the life they have. That being said, I can't fathom doing something to jeopardize that multi-million dollar paycheck. I would be the most boring person in the world.

Driving on a suspended license. Gun probably isn't registered, legal and he probably doesn't have a permit for the gun. Just thinking out loud here.

Minor Infractions it seems..In most cases like this the Officer would just send people home with a warning . The punishment is probably a fine and 24 hours community service .. What was the reason for the stop to begin with ? No report of swerving, speeding, tail lights out, dead tag, no inspection sticker.. If none of these turn up the charges will probably be tossed..

The Officer needs probable cause for a stop..

No worries, he's doing a great job of ending his own career with his lack of skills to excel in the NFL. Unfortunately it was a waste of a 3rd rounder.

Ohio is "open carry", however, IF you do not have an Ohio concealed carry permit, and have a gun in your car, the gun cannot be loaded. Either the gun has to be in the trunk of the car, or the rear of the car in an SUV, or the ammo has to be in the trunk or rear. They must be kept separate. If the gun was loaded, in the car, that's considered "concealed carry".

In these days of increased enforcement of seatbelt laws they don't need probable cause or even a strong reason, typically they can pull you over for the smallest of things. I was pulled over by a state trooper in the town I live in(priority road) because we had 2 ft of snow the night before and it obscured my rear license plate. He then proceeded to give me a 5 min lesson on applying registration tabs because I had mine with me in the overhead but hadn't applied them due to subzero temperatures. After wasting 10 minutes and making me late for work he thanked me for wearing my seat belt and let me go, no ticket or anything. Just an excuse to check my seatbelt.

Report was he was stopped for speeding, then they found out he had a suspended license and also prior traffic violations, then they smelled the narcotics, then then saw the gun in the arm rest.

At 0300. Don't be speeding with a gun in your car at 3 AM. Nothing good can come of it.

Okay i see so plenty of probable cause so not enough dope to charge I guess.. So this makes more sense he was breaking multiple laws and the Officer thought he had a drug bust..They will usually charge anything and everything they can at that point..

That is the one thing I cannot wrap my head around. While I understand that youth is wasted on the young, you give me all that money in my 20's and I would have made sure I had the right people around me to keep me grounded and on the straight and narrow.

Not so good at his job and not so smart either.

Is that the definition of a loser?

If a weapon is not in plain sight and/ or loaded, you need a CCW license. Each state is different.

Not yet. To me a real loser doesn't learn from their mistakes and it happens again. Then they are a real F'ing loser.
