Steelers draw Seattle for 17th game

The NFLPA is a business just like any other business, they want to make more money too. Unions are not non-profit and may not care as much about the players as you would think. They are representing the players but they don't do it for free and the more the players make, they more the unions make. They have a P&L, budget, and all the other things a business has to run THEIR business. So, when you hear about the CBA, its a mix of interests involved between the owners (management), players, and the union; 3 separate and distinct entities. I'd venture to say that amongst the players themselves, there are factions that differ on this depending on seniority, contract /veteran status, new players, and others who are impacted differently on various CBA provisions and agreements. JMO>

 

Yeah I don't get that line of thinking either. When people say "all the NFL cares about is money" Well duh it is a business after all.

Are we sure it will actually be scheduled as the 17th game of the season? I was thinking they may snuggle it in at number 9.

 

And turnpike speed limits should be 35. That would be much safer.

 

Who says when we will play them? Usually, we play a division game last. Could play them any one of 18 weeks if I understand things right.

 

Maybe someone knows more about this than I do but from what I think I read is that the preseason will still be 4 weeks but only have 3 games. Every team is supposed to have a "bye" week during that former 4th preseason game week to prepare for the regular season week 1. I think this was because most times the 3rd preseason game was like a dress rehearsal and the next week "bye" would help heal up before thing start to count. I assume playing in the HOF game still goes prior to the preseason starting and we get a "bye" week off like everyone else.

 

The NFL released the schedule for Week 17 shortly after announcing it was approved.

Well yeah, but your post said there was a schedule for week 17. That is just a list of who the 17th game opponent is. Two very different things.

 

I didn't know you needed the exact kickoff time; I was answering a post asking how anyone knew who'd we be playing that week. I haven't seen game times yet either. But given both teams may be jockeying for playoff position by then it could get flexed anyway, so it's not really a front-burner item for me right now.

 

I think some older players get worn out near the end of a 16 game schedule, now we got 17. There is the other side of the spectrum too, rookies not used to playing so many games.

Just saying quality of play is potentially going to suffer more unless coaching is smart and bench has quality depth.

 

I need to know who we play week 18 not who our 17th opponent is. I am not sure you link does that. Or does it and I just don't get it.

 

Typically the last couple weeks of the season are division rivals. That’s for good reason. I would imagine shoving these extra games in the middle of the season, possibly all on the same weekend.

In the Jaguars playoff loss, T J was a flat out liability, and gave up 3 third and longs that even old man Harrison could have stopped. If we had kept him.

 

Yeah, that's my fault. I was doing a littling ass-u-me-ing there with the way I keep seeing the games listed. I'll kick around a bit this weekend and see I can confirm dates. Apologies.

 

I saw an article where the NFL doesn’t expect to release the schedule until mid May. I recommend you have a beer instead.

This is the experimental starting point to eventually go to 18 games. They will have to increase roster size a bit when it goes the 18 game route I believe.

One less pre season game is fine with me.

 

I guess I'm a weirdo. I like preseason. I think it's the only real way 2 see new guys in the fire of it, and how they might , or might not fit in a scheme.
Hell some say the players don't need it, but the players that do ....well they do need it, and the Players that don't....they usually don't play.
