NFL network is saying the likelihood of Fournette resigning in Tampa is not a given. Terrell Davis believes his perfect landing spot would be the Pittsburgh Steelers. I wonder if that would happen. The guy is a beast and always seemed to be able to find the seams against us for big games. Now I don't know if Terrell Davis took into consideration our salary cap situation, but it would be interesting to see if we could land him.

His stats weren’t that great playing behind a solid OL in TB. I don’t see anything he can offer that Snell or Samuels can’t

With the exception that he is really really good in the redzone on 1 yard dives or over the top of the pile for the score. Like ridiculously good at it. Snell and Samuels not so much

Bear in mind he was already sharing work with Ronald Jones down there whom they just resigned.

He was very good during their superbowl run and I heard on SNR the other day that he has good hands for catching passes.

Well plus he was sharing carries with Ronald Jones.

Nobody's good if they're wrapped up behind the line of scrimmage.

They are going draft all the way. And if they did both draft and Leonard, they’d have to be giving up on Snell already.

I just don’t see it. Plus the finance part of it, too.

I'm confused. Which is it, sign everyone or release everyone?

Both. Pennsylvania is now a sign and release state. Can't keep what you catch.

But at least he's a running back with a resume. Both Samuels and Snell to me never feel like they should even be in the NFL.

They would be if utilized properly and had a semi-competent line to block for them. ;)

    Snell - 111 carries, 368 yds, 4 TD, 2021 salary $850k
    Fournette - 97 carries, 367 yds, 6 TD, 2021 salary $2.0M (??)

I just don’t see enough difference to warrant an additional $1M

Me neither. I'm a broken record with this, but we've got RB's in house that could get the job done adequately if utilized properly and blocked for.

Pass, often hurt, been down that road.

Although he destroyed the Steelers in that 2017 Playoff game, they couldn't stop him

I think its gonna be Snell, McFarland, and a draft pick, and that is who they will role with, and if somebody gets hurt along the line they sign somebody.

Who knows maybe Conner comes back on a 1 year deal too, he isn't getting a lot of tire kickers thus far.

A little of both. Release all our bad guys and sign all their good guys. Cap? What cap? They don't need no stinking cap.

It seems like we are doing the opposite on defense.

Snell isn't quick enough to make people miss, or big enough to break tackles. I guess you'd call him a tweener. On a team with a good backfield, he'd be, at best, a serviceable backup. Having said that, he plays hard and gets the most out of the talent he has. At his cap hit, he's worth keeping around. On the other hand, I have no idea why they keep Jaylen Samuels around. He's a half decent pass catcher out of the back field and that's about it.

Samuels is a poor man's Vernon Hayes. Tomlin loves him some Swiss army knife players even the not so good ones.

I agree. Overall, I'd be happy if the defense finishes high teens, low twenties league wide in '21.

If he's a beast, why is Tampa not trying to keep him?

I believe the defense will be okay until the depth has to start. That is why I am so adamant about getting a great RB. Play ball control and limit the defense's time on the field.

Snell ran hard and over some people last season, he might not have the quickness to make people miss but he can be a power back in a rotation.

Vernon Hayes ! Wow forgot about him . He was so frustrating , 3rd and 4 , he would get you 3 yards every time. He always came up 1 yard short.

Agree, at times he did. I don't think he has the size to take that punishment game in and game out. Like I said, he does play hard.
