If I was Juju and the Jets offered a 4 year deal at x amount, I'd say thanks for the offer. Then call Kevin and say sign me to a 2 yr deal 3.5 million a year and let's revisit this next season.

The Raiders are a confusing team, they trade 3 starters on their OL, then pay a backup RB 7 million a year .

Not as confusing as Mark Davis giving Jon Gruden a 10 Year, $100 Million Dollar Contract!!

JuJu isn't playing for 3.5 million in 2021 IMO.

I don't think he will either but like Ryan Clark is saying this just isn't the year for big money receiver deals. I'd take a reasonable deal with a contender and showcase the skills and get paid next year. No way would I take the dumpster fire that is the Jets

As it stands, we don't have cap space for a 1 year deal for anyone, I mean they have under $3m in space.... there's no wiggle room for creativity on a 1 year deal.

edit: over the cap says we have $3.9m available after VW was cut. I think they still have a potential $3-4m in savings if they can restructure Tuitt, but the balance would be available for draft picks and whomever else they try to sign as free agent..... just not a good cap situation to be in.

Then just let Juju go. If he wanted to be here he’d be adamant about getting a deal done.

JuJu or not, they will be making moves, restructures to free up more. Not even sure you can sign the draft class with what they have on hand.

It’s believed they can get to about 18 million, that was with figuring in Vince, so probably around 14 million now they could free up.

The bigger question is why hasn't Tuitt's restructure has not come up?! What about Steven Nelson?! Very odd indeed as those two are the best options for a contract restructure.

They can free up $15m by extending Nelson & Haden, and restructuring Tuitt and Boz

They could free up a further $10m by extending both DeCastro and Ebron, or $15m if you cut both

They will only do what they need, as they need to do it, but if they want to make some moves that flexibility above is there.

Over the cap doesn't have wormley or finney included in that 3.9 mil.. Plus that's just the top 51. All 53 plus draft picks, plus practice squad, plus 2-3 million to carry into the season has to come out of that yet.

Tuitt, Nelson and Boswell should be the first ones done. They should only move on the others if they need to. With older guys like Decastro or Haden you need to be able to cut ties during the season if they fall off a cliff, especially in a year like this.

I’m surprised they restructured Watt early.

With the TV deals now done there is some certainty around the future of the cap, I’d expect them to start doing some business in the coming weeks. Presumably they must try to get a NT in free agency?

Wide receivers may become devalued like the running backs.

    Indeed.

Then again, I suspect a Tuitt and Nelson restructure is on its way soon. How soon though is anyone's guess.

    Disagree.

COVID 19 is to blame for such a slow market this season. Another major reason is the 2021 NFL Draft; Three Receivers going in the Top 15. For teams needing a Wide Receiver, they will likely be going that route. That said, it is suspicious that very few teams have inquired about JuJu.

A 24 Year Old like him should have received max value by now.

I disagree with you disagreeing with me. I agree rookie wide receivers will hold their draft value, but veteran wide receivers may not get the huge second contract because of the talent coming out of college. I say this only as a possibility because the money gravy train will be flowing again in 2022.

That's the exact thing I worry about most when thinking about getting a new Qb. A lot of people act like it's an easy thing.
Oh....there's a Qb in the 1st round...and...look He has speed , escape ability, and a strong arm....therefore hes good...yeah right.

Some vets may receive that big contract, some may not. It all depends on a myriad of factors. However, I doubt that the Wide Receiving position itself has lost any value as that position is only going to get more popular thanks to the new rules favoring these college level passing attacks we see.

That said, replacing a Wide Receiver is going to be more efficient now than it was a decade to a generation ago.

This level of thinking is why so many 1st Round QBs end up flaming out more than not. If anything, most GMs pay little attention to what is around that QB and instead focus a majority of their resources on simply him. There are exceptions like Justin Herbert but players like him are not the normal.

Some say Patrick Mahomes is also one but I had severe doubts about that then and much of what I knew about Mahomes then has come to light now. The reason Patrick Mahomes was a Top 10 pick had nothing to do with him merely possessing a good arm or buying time. The major reason Patrick Mahomes was a Top 10 pick was due to his playmaking abilities coming out of Texas Tech. Even if Texas Tech was merely airing it out literally every play in the infamous Air Raid system, the way Patrick was playing... even dating back to his Freshman Season, was insane.

In short?! The whole picture must be assessed in addition to scouting the QB. Ignoring even one major aspect is asking for trouble.

    Yup.

The league is coming down to three things; 1) the QB, 2) sacking the QB, and 3) protecting the QB.

They could extend Nelson and restructure Tuitt and free up 10 million. We can get the money very easily if we need it.
