Virus or not, if you jump into the DeLorean and head back to the start of just about any given season the results stand a good chance of turning out differently.

That said, and with all due respect to Tampa, their path to SB victory last season was largely paved by increasingly flat/poor performances by the Saints, Packers, and Chiefs in the playoffs after putting together a solid, if unspectacular, regular season. Many SB victors have emerged in similar fashion, though I would have preferred seeing the winner be more a function of a team getting hot at the right time. IMO, Tampa didn't play significantly better in the playoffs than they had during the regular season; they just took advantage of their opponents playing significantly worse.

Ben wasn't making 41 million, that was his cap hit, he was making 19 million this season.

Brady is a once in a lifetime player. You act like Ben is Ryan Leaf. I’m sure the Bucs will take another fan.

Because they are qbs and take up the most cap space. It will always look more favorable when a qb does it than any other position. But brady and mahomes are doing it so they can have better talent around them.

They all do. The whole reason is to create cap space, they know that goes towards signing other players.

But the qb has more impact than anyone thus looks more favorable when they do it.

Where did Tampa Bay come up with all this money to re-sign most of their free agents ?

He’s not taking less unless there was a pay cut I didn’t hear about. Restructuring is not a sacrifice for the player, never has been.

Ben actually took 5 million off his deal, went from 19 to 14.

Brady, Mahomes, all the Steelers restructuring ever year, it’s not a sacrifice.

Tampa are backloading deals like crazy, something they have never done in the past. David signed for two years $26m, year one hit is only $3.5m, they added several void years for Brady etc.

They are going to have one serious cap hangover after this run but I can absolutely see why they are doing it. They might never get this chance again

Brady doesn't get the max anyway. He never really in his career took the most money. Mahomes deal has voidable years at the end so they will have a new deal soon.

Considering that TB replaced Winston with Brady, I can understand why Brady is getting an undue amount of credit.
    His 42 TDs / 12 INTs was a big improvement over 33 TDs / 30 INTs.
The team turnover differential went from from -13 to +8.

I do think there is more to the story.
    1. From 2011-2019, they've only had 1 winning season (9-7 in 2016). They have been able to draft a lot of talent over a long period of time. Brady (and Rob G. and Antonio B.) pushed them over the top, but it isn't like TB was lacking talent before they joined.
    2. Other than the turnovers, the offense didn't see an improvement. The 2019 offense was 3rd in the league in points and yardage. The 2020 offense was 3rd in points and 7th in yardage.
    3. So what else changed besides the turnovers? The 2019 defense was ranked 29th in points and 15th in yards. The 2020 defense was 8th in points and 6th in yards.

Side note: The TB running game has been crap for years. That would be evidence that the Steelers don't need to have good runners, as long as they don't have the absolutely worst running game.
