I'm not sure what the team performed like with him as the OC. I remember people saying he was going to get Ben killed for some reason.

    55-15 by my counting.

We ran bubble screens all the time, and he had this habit of calling the same play several times in a row. It was when Ben was in his prime gunslinger mode, and he got sacked a lot.

Bear in mind where the roster was 2007-2011. 2 Superbowl visits, missed the play-offs once.

Ben took a lot of sacks while Arians was the OC. In fact, all QB's under Arians tend to get sacked a lot. He likes deep passes, which take longer to develop. The longer the QB has the ball, the more likely he is to get sacked.

Ben didn't help his own cause though. He refused to throw the ball away and took a lot of unnecessary sacks.

His 3rd and 1, 45 yard pass play calls drove me nuts.

Yes and he would have off in redzone by either throwing most of way there then go all runs or vice versa once there. That and a lot of us could call out his plays by down distances/field position etc

NOW Ben didn't help by as others noted refusi5to throw ball away or taking check downs, nor was that corrected by Arians or Tomlin

Ben seemed to pre determine his throws n still does to this day, IMO

Apparently when Brady first got to TB, Arians tried to force him to run Arians’ offence. It didn’t got well. So they changed up the offence to suit Brady’s personal preferences.

    Haley 61-35
    Fichtner 29-18

Those are the records of the whole team, obviously won't reflect the OC in particular. Would have to look at points differential etc. I guess...

All I know is everyone complained about him, just like they have every Steelers offensive Coordinator my last 35 years rotating on this planet called Earth.

I remember wanting to keep BA. Not only could I not get an “Amen” it was a very lonely board. NO one here wanted to retain his services and I mean NO ONE!. Now, it’s the same with Ben. I think Reports of their demise are greatly exaggerated, particularly when you’re talking about the great ones!

In life, there is an ebb and flow to things. People tend to “react” in a heightened manner. Sometimes, you just have to ride out the storm.

I think the only coordinators who left the Steelers on a positive note over the past couple decades, at least among fans, was Whiz and Munchak. Even Lebeau was thought to be past his prime when he left, largely due to Brady owning his defenses.

Fwiw, I liked what Haley brought to the team. If we had just a bit more talent on defense and maybe some better injury luck, those offenses were beyond Super Bowl caliber.

Munchak wasn't a coordinator here, he was the OL coach and run game coordinator.

Oops.. brain fart.. yeah, he just seemed like a coordinator because of his leadership and prior coaching history. That, and the online improved significantly during his tenure.
