It has always been a mystery to me how the Steelers never utilize the TE end position to it's fullest potential. I believe Heath Miller could have been on of the best ever, and while Vance was not Heath his talents were vastly under used.

Vance did have the injury bug on and off for awhile. Just sayin'.
When he did make a catch and turn upfield he knew how to punish tacklers, which is sorely lacking in today's game.

I will miss you Vance. You should have been involved more last season. Good luck in retirement.

Congrats to Vance. As many have already said, he was way under used in the passing game.

Maybe Jesse James comes back? I think I read somewhere that he's due $5 M this season? Got to figure he will be released.

As a fan, it is always hard when someone you respect retires from your favorite team. Peace out Vance.

I remember people saying the same , back when Coach Cowher was here.

If the Steelers keep Ebron expect Ben to be back running the shotgun next year.

I never get tired of watching that play. That stiff arm was like swatting a nuisance fly.

They need to draft a TE, and stop with these stop gap guys.

With Vance retiring the Steelers will save about 4.2 million in cap space. Good for him that he went out on his own, and didn't wait for the Steelers to release him.

Would your heart be in it if you were the best TE on the team and the coaches didn't let you play?

I understand, but we also need a lt and center at a minimum. We should be able to get a decent tight end in free agency without breaking the bank. We can’t afford a lt or center.

He was going to retire after 2019 but came back for Ben, the two are very close. He knew what his role was going to be this years, he put on weight for the heavy blocking usage.

If Ebron is on the team I don't think they will be spending money in free agency on a TE, they need to draft a complete TE.

They don’t have much choice, the guys behind Ebron are “break glass in case of emergency” and a draft pick won’t be ready to contribute.

You need two viable TE’s going into a season.

Not that the steelers have a vast amount of money to test the FA waters, but if they do find some after getting their own house in order I would not mind them kicking the tires on Jonnu Smith. Sporttrac has his value at around 40 mill over 5 years, probably out of touch for us, but really a solid player all around.

do you want a running game or another debacle like 2020? We go into 21 with ebron as our #1 te and it will only be a repeat of 2020

I think a draft pick like TE Pat Freiermuth in the second round could contribute immediately.

Won’t help them next year unless you think they take one in the first.

Kittle and Kelce the two best tight ends wasn't drafted in the first round.
