In biggest misses you have to also calculate when the player was drafted. In 1999 we drafted Troy Edwards in the 13 spot, Javon Kearse went 3 spots later....hindsight is painful.

The difference here is that most of us knew Edmunds was a terrible choice the moment it was announced. They took a third-round talent in the first round, and it has worked out about how you would expect it. Edmunds came up small again today. He had an interception in the end zone in his hands and failed to catch it.

I have provided the evidence on this many times. I'm sorry you weren't paying attention.

I was arguing for trading up, taking the best inside linebacker available, or taking Chubb. Leonard was the best inside linebacker available and he was graded ahead of Edmunds everywhere.

Blah blah blah, you're just looking to pat yourself on the back, yeah teams were looking to draft a small school LB that ran a 4.7 or 4.8 in the first round.

When you win and pick late year after year, you won't get great players who would upset the franchise as a huge bust. It's the guys selected in the top 10 for sure are the one's with pressure to perform faster than the guys selected later. You select you needs late and draft whatever is left. That's it.

    In today's NFL, you can't wait 4-5 years for a player to.develop.

Every ranking had him higher than the safety from Virginia Tech who can't cover and rarely even made big plays in college.

I said it was a terrible choice at the time. Clearly, I was right. Get over it.

I like Edmunds. Rivals Bud in the freak department.

Where was the All-Pro Leonard against the Steelers? I don't recall his name being called during the game .

Are you implying that they wouldn't be better off with the All-Pro than they are with a mediocre player like Edmunds? Please tell me you know better.

He really doesn't. Edmunds does have the size and speed necessary for the position, but it is silly to claim that he really stands out in those areas in comparison to other safeties. How many 270-pound outside linebackers can move like Dupree?

Leonard was definitely graded higher than Edmunds pre-draft. That's not opinion, that's fact

Biggest mistake the Steelers made in their history. Dan Marino in Pittsburgh would have garnered multiple Super Bowls. Imagine the 1994 and 1995 team with Marino. Dallas and the 49ers would be down one less Super Bowl. And I'm just basing that off of those two years. the Steelers went to the AFC Title game in 1984, against Marino and they had Mark Malone playing QB. Imagine Danny on that team. The what if's could be unlimited. Steelers would have gone to 4 or 5 super bowls and won at least 3 or 4 of them. Terrible non pick. Worse, Gabe Rivera, god rest his soul, destroys his career in two months driving drunk. All around terrible sequences.

Must be referring to former Cowboy Safety - Brock Marion, or former Cowboy Running Back - Marion Barber III. Either was an okay player, but never would I call them them the biggest draft miss ever :rawk:

Maybe he was, my point is he wasn't a first round guy either, you can see why they reached for Edmunds 220 pounds and runs a 4.4. Leonard was a slow LB from a small school.
