At this point I guess I would only be upset if they didn't make the playoffs.

Every additional week is another 4-5 hours of doing something fun, win or lose.

I think that will help but won't be enough.
    1. Fix the drops, yes agree
    2. Better plays to keep defense honest- Skins players comments
    3. Run game need huge improvement- obvious
    4. APB on where our deep passing game has gone- may never be found if Ben's arm is an issue that is causing current play calling..

He’s hated him since day 1. Don’t think it’s anything personal, I think it’s just because Madden is a dick.

I used to be a regular listener, still listen to him at times when The Fan is on a commercial break. Maddens M.O. is to pick out a beloved Pittsburgh sports figure (those who he doesn't a ss kiss) that he says have dissed him and run them in to the ground to get the Yinzers all wound up. He claims Jerome Bettis was supposed to do his show once and didn't come through, so ever after he threw him under the bus, ahem. He hates Hines Ward, calls him Whines Hard, which is funny, but again, insinuates a personal slight. He probably has a good rapport with these guys, It's just part of his schtick which is all the rage in sports talk. He does have some interesting takes sometimes, but he needs to change his worn out act. I will give him credit for being very knowledgeable about hockey.

Well, the numbers don't lie about how much he is under center, especially the last five years. Or, how many pass attempts per game he has. How much of that is that he finally got tired of getting hit is open to debate. I'm not blaming all the offensive troubles on Ben. Catch the ball. At least try using the FB in short yardage situations. People have suggested sitting Okorafor, moving Feiler to his spot and putting Dotson at guard as a means of opening up some holes. I'm all for that. But, is the line currently configured that way because it is a better pass blocking unit? I don't know for sure, but it makes me wonder. I just have the feeling based on what I've watched this year, that for whatever reason, Ben has a bigger part than he ever did on how the offense is run. Just my personal opinion.

The way Ben can be singled out is if during the week, while game planning, HE is saying to Randy that he doesn't want to throw deep and risk taking any kind of shots. We already know he prefers shotgun and no playaction.

He could be nixing all the stuff we need to be successful on offense.

When is the last time you seen the Steelers 11-0? He gets a few things right every now & then. I imagine that Cowher or Noll would consider him competent in what he does. Another collapse in the stretch run is going to hurt his stock though.

Have you considered that maybe Tomlin decides not to meddle in the offense gameplanning until he needs to step in?

Possibly the minute it bit him in the ass. My belief is that he lets Ben run things on offense like T. Dungy did with the lesser Manning.

We must keep in mind a few things regarding this offense and Tomlin. Tomlin is a defensive Coach and our defense is killing it. While Ben is awesome and its always great to have a franchise QB, he is also our achilles heal as far as Offense and coaching goes. Fichtner is not a good OC plain and simple. But he is Ben's friend. He has the Job cause that is who Ben wanted. Ben threatened to retire over the OC. While Haley is a crappy person he wasn't a bad OC. Probably best one we've had since Whiz. While Ben is talented and the team probably would have sucked without him, he has also been a Big pain in the butt crybaby about being Coached. Now before you say that Tomlin Should reign him in, keep in mind that Tomlin was forced to Deal with AB as well. My point is I truly believe Tomlin is handed down some Edicts from upstairs more than we realize. And i do not think for one second that Tomlin has ever been able to Bring in "his" guy as OC. Yes its possible that "his" guy might suck and we might be worse off. But i do believe this is the Ben show when it comes to the offense and his insistence on who the OC is is a huge part of why we have these issues.

Well said. It's hard to convince oneself or others that Ben is part of the problem in the face of an 11-1 record. I think he is. To be clear, he is not the only problem. If I was to forced to pick one big issue from the WFT game, it was dropped passes. Next, was short yardage failures. They could have rushed for 150 yards in that game but if there were drops at crucial times, what good does it do? Having said that, this team is too one dimensional on offense to sustain a long playoff run. That needs to change and Ben has to buy in or it will never happen, just my opinion.

Can I get paid for being pissed off too?

There is such a thing as too much information.

Too much media out there who want somebody to make a show of themselves or say something to get viewers.

I guess it`s all about money in the end.

Exactly. Madden isn't different than anyone else. You talk for four hours a day, you are bound to say something profound once in awhile. If Madden was everything he thinks he is, he'd be on a national show. The national sports talk TV and radio shows are full of stiffs that I given up all hope of ever understanding how they got their jobs.

with all due respect what set of circumstances would it take for him to say, "Hmmmm, something doesn't seem to be working here maybe I ought to step in and see if we can come up with a better plan? the ship has taken a torp under the stack and is in danger of breaking in two. Now is the time

In my study of coach Tomlin i see a lot of T. Dungy in his coaching style. It's the players journey & he gives them the opportunity to steer the ship. That & i think Tomlin isn't a great offensive mind, delegating the responsibility to his peers in that area. Maybe that's why he is smiling at the adversity, it will help those responsible dig deeper.
