Sounds like he will be our kicker. Not overly accurate or a very strong leg. I hope it goes well.

I noticed Boswell was downgraded to doubtful. The Steelers better be more efficient in the red zone this week. I dont know anything about Matt Wright but I would rather the game not come down to him.

Likely will do well on point after TD, not so well on 59 yard FG's. Yes red xone TD's ae key. Do not want a last second FG from an untested guy.

Looks like the dude needs to hit the weight room. If his arms are any indication of his leg strength he'll be lucky to hit a 40 yarder.

He looks like he could eat a few more sandwiches.

Just put it through the uprights when you have too.

You should check out Rodrigo Blankenship! :lolol:

He actually looks even bigger than this kid but he’s by no means anyone’s idea of a football player.

Anyway, he can boot it. In case you can’t access the article, here’s a snippet:

Three years later his resume looked like this:

    • Most points in team history with 375.
    • A team record 55 field goals made.
    • A team record 212 extra points including 153 in a row.
    • A team record .774 field goal percentage.
And maybe most important, Wright was part of the undefeated UCF team in 2017 that laid claim to the national championship. They followed that up with another undefeated season and a 25-game winning streak before losing to LSU in the Fiesta Bowl, 40-32.

“Going 25-0, every game sort of had a little extra pressure added to it to make my kicks,” Wright said. “Then playing in those bowl games added some pressure.”

Dude is incredibly accurate just doesn't make many power kicks - should be fine in Boswell's stead... though I'd guess we go for it on 4th and short if the situation is right.

This is dumb, it’s one thing to question if he has the leg for long FG’s but extra points? Give me a break.

    Pay her no attention.

Matthew Wright has had both a Rookie Preseason and a year of Offseason Training to get ready. Not worried about Matthew Wright in the slightest. All he has to do is hold down the fort.

Just kidding. She does OK by me. I really just wanted to get two more cheap posts in before the game.

Or maybe the beginning of a new era. Hip injuries are obviously tough on kickers, tough on any athlete but can forget about kicking a football.

Josh Lambo had to eventually go on IR after battling back this season from a hip injury.

Keep in mind Boswell is going to count $4.7 Million against the cap per OverTheCap. I personally do not believe the Rooney's, Kevin Colbert or Mike Tomlin would want Cris' hip injury to be a major problem if not issue. That said, any way to save money is something to monitor.

Should Matthew Wright perform well in Boz's absence, that is going to be an interesting discussion for certain.

I agree. I recall him doing quite well in the 2019 preseason. Let’s hope he can settle his nerves and perform.

    All we can hope!!

Keep in mind many of us said the same thing about Chris Boswell after taking over for Shaun Suisham. Hopefully the results will be the same in the end. We will find out soon though!
