    SO much more.

Tennis shoe/bodysuit speed doesn't always equate to speed in pads. It doesn't lend itself to power, other than initial burst. Straight-line speed rarely is a positive ability when it comes to change of direction and maneuverability. It doesn't help getting in and out of breaks. It doesn't give any indication of stop/start ability. Saquon Barkley is an exception, but typically the burners are slight of build. Once you put pads on them, their speed decreases more than others. And then there are some who simply do not run well in pads. I could go on.

40 times in football, like 2k times in crew, are overrated. I can put fast boats together without the best 2k/off-water rowers. 2k times are great benchmarks and track progress/ability. But they don't always transfer to the water, just like straight-line speed doesn't always transfer to the football field.

I am maybe in the minority but I’d rather draft a guy this year who is more Anquan Bolden then Mike Wallace in terms of skill set.

Interesting. I'm not sure I agree at first glance. Tell me more...maybe you'll change my mind.

Well we certainly don’t want only the “one trick pony” part of Wallace but the way I see it is JUJU= combat catcher. JW= combat catcher. Ebron= large athletic target. DJ is a route runner, quick twitch type. We could use another like him. I think we could use a guy with size (6’2+ ) with speed that has to be respected over the top (Cain?) or a shiftier guy who can excel in the slot and also as a gadget type like a T. Hill. I’ve been a advocate of Reagor for a while but first I thought he wouldn’t be around, then after the combine I thought there was a chance but now after “his” pro day probably out of reach again. Luckily there are all types and sizes to choose from in this draft.

I want a Martavis Bryant type in terms of skill set, without the weed problem .

I'm kind of fascinated by the dichotomy around Switzer. I watch him play and I know he won't do anything special but I also believe he won't do anything negative.

I'm sure it's in this thread somewhere but maybe someone can give us a list of how much money he makes compared to the other WR's and returners on the team?

I hear people say that Ben loves him and the only reason I can think Ben would love him is that he gives the effort and he doesn't screw up because if you think about who Ben has liked and who he hasn't it tends to follow Ben's mantra of winning football games. I doubt if Ben loves him for his size, his speed, his wit, etc.

Falling to the ground the minute a defender gets a fingernail on him is negative. Failing to gain yardage when opportunities are there is negative. Making dumb decisions on punt returns that lead to worse field position than necessary is a negative even if he doesn't turn it over. There are plenty of sure-handed guys out there who can't play. Switzer was one of them in 2019. Maybe it was due to injury. Maybe he can get back to being at least a tiny bit useful as he was in 2018, but what you have is a player with a very low ceiling. If he makes that team, it is a bad sign regarding the depth at receiver.

Failing to do well with extreme opportunity is not a negative, just ask the Tomlin apologists:hehehe: Again, it depends on what he is being paid and when that becomes bad use of a roster spot.

He was a terrible use of a roster spot last year. We keep hearing about the mistake the Steelers made trying to slip Fred Johnson through waivers when the injuries hit. Switzer was the guy who should have been gone. Nobody was going to bother to snap up a kick and punt returner who can't do anything with the ball in his hands.

Also, I'm not really interested in the Tomlin apologist thing. I've been calling for the guy to be fired since the loss to the Raiders in 2018. That was the last straw for me. Your claims about him being a terrible coach are misguided and based in a type of thinking I don't subscribe to, but I have no interest in propping the guy up.

    Dear spin doctor:

Your opinions are duly noted, **** you very much.

While I know that you don't subscribe to any type of thinking, I have yet to say Tomlin is a terrible coach, just that he doesn't fit the Steelers, and hasn't for a while.

Typical Stone response when anybody dares point out that he is wrong.

I have a hard time believing we can’t find anyone else on the roster who can fair catch

Consider it done! And while you're at it, how about dialing back this complete and total douchebag?

It's one thing to be wrong, we all do it from time to time. It's another thing to be arrogant, we all do it from time to time. It's pretty bad when you are blatantly wrong, arrogant about it, cross every line there is to cross.....and people ignore it because everyone knows you are a flaming douche.

I don’t know where you pulled that from but if you get a reply like that, there is a report feature you can use.

We don’t crack down on every single offense but you were on a roll yesterday. Both me and Elvis let your insults against us pass but then you went too far with Scribe. You should get reprimanded just for making me defend scribe off all members I was the one that had to do it!

I am sure we have plenty but there are thing about the punt return that people aren't thinking about.
    1. A turnover on a punt is usually a death sentence and Switzer doesn't do it.
    2. An east west run on a punt return usually creates a penalty, which is a death sentence, and Switzer doesn't do it.
    3. He can be a #5 receiver from whom you know what to expect.
    4. I could fair catch but you would probably like those results even less:smiley1:

I will gladly point out numerous offenses by Strummer via PM, but really, you don't have to look very hard. You seem to think you and Elvis' posts directed at me weren't insulting....ahhh the irony:huh:

I'm not sure it's possible to go too far with Scribe.......however, I stand reprimanded, corrected, and apologetic that you had to be the one. I still don't think it's possible to go too far with Scribe.

Oh so you want to lob salvos and not get any in return? You can get reprimanded or have a salvo returned, you don’t get to whine about both.

In all honesty though, when you make comments about someone’s intelligence while presenting the arguments you were, it’s more amusing than insulting.

You couldn't be anymore hypocritical than you are right now! With the rhetoric you've posted on the forbidden subject you may need a straight jacket more than a reprimand. But when party A is the only party who is allowed to issue a reprimand, they should NOT get involved in such discussions or people might think they are a full blown, TDS suffering, demoncrat.....god forbid!

I see you are still doing everything humanly possible to prove to the world that you’re a tool.
