    I'm truly baffled.

Has anyone here ever seen such consistent clock mismanagement on any level of football - HS, College, or Professional?

Literally every single game I can remember for YEARS has had multiple clock disasster that have compiled to hurt the Steelers.

How many timeouts have been lost, how many stupid challenges have been lost, how many 2 minute warnings have been mismanaged, how many times have the steelers needed to run down the clock but snapped it with more than 10 seconds on the clock, etc etc etc?

I'm so happy they won this game but seeing this happen every week for years makes it extra painful to watch.

How many millions of dollars do we need to spend to get a HS PE teacher to become assistant to the head coach and remind Tomlin how to use the clock to help the steelers improve their chances!?

Yeah, he is stirring the pot and probably a troll, but what he says is mostly true.

    Huh? How is it trolling?

    I find it weird that
    a) you think the clock mismanagement each game is "nothing" and
    b) that it doesn't make your eyes bleed every single week to watch it.

I guess if you disagree about those things then you are confused about what I said. Or am I just not allowed to post this on days the steelers win?

Edit: And if you agree with what I said then how the hell have you decided I'm a troll after one post? SMH.

It's not mismanaged every game. Sometimes there isn't a correct way to handle time management situations when many variables are involved. There isn't a book saying coaches should do this or do that in regard to time management for every situation. Many times it's a matter of opinion. People attempt to pass that opinion on as fact and think are coaches idiots.

There were many times when time management and game management were good with this team. No one talks about those though.

Ultimately how many time management situations lost a game?

At the end of the Colts game Tomlin took a gamble. He took a gamble on that the refs would see things his way. Just because it didn't work out doesn't mean it wasn't a good decision. The first challenge was a good challenge. I didn't PI and I don't know how the refs saw PI on the field or on review.

The 2nd challenge Tomlin grasped at last ditch effort. I don't think he can trust his QB to lead this team down the field in a one minute situation yet. So would saving a TO really matter? I don't know? No one can say with any degree of certainty that having 2 TO would had matter under the circumstances. In any event, it all worked out and the team got the win.

Yeah you seem like a troll when your first post is negative after a win.

Defending Tomlin’s clock management is literally trolling.

Yep, we're talking about Tomlin here. The standard is the standard.

I disagree with almost every line you wrote except the merits of the first challenge on overthrown ball.

We say this game is a game of inches. How many times have "inches" actually lost the game?? The point of that phrase isn't about the rare cases someone loses on a 4th and inches, it's to say that during each possession you can do things that slightly shift the likelihood of your team winning and those build up into a likely victory. That is exactly what time management is and why it's so important.

With that said, I commend you on your creativity and effort in trying to defend the indefensible.

P.S. We don't commend correct clock management for the same reason we don't celebrate when the Steelers put 11 men on the field. That's your job at the most basic level and should be standard within 1 month of experience on a middle school flag football team.

What's important is that I attempt to understand. I don't simply believe a decision is simply "indefensible". Especially when an individual can be "creative" and provide a logical answer. We don't have to agree but we can understand.

Time management situations and coaching decisions are not always as cut and dry as fans believe. Often times time management and coaching decisions are a matter of opinion.

While Tomlin is a complete buffoon. Steelers running backs and Juju create horrible gaffs into INTs has been an enigma the last two years.

True. I wonder - Is it possible to significantly coach up someone's ability to hold onto the football? Anyone have examples in NFL history?

I've just come to expect it and hope they overcome it week in and week out year in and year out.

Considering the amount of games they've done a pretty good job.

Maybe people make to much of an issue over challenges and time management decisions?

    Andy Reid is worse.
What I don't understand is I swear that the team brought in a time management guy to help Tomlin this year. Did he get canned?

I thought the two pass interference challenges especially the 2nd one with under 2 minutes left was terrible. And not challenging the Samuels dive in the first quarter were just really bad decisions on Tomlin’s part. They were Vinateri did miss the kick at the end because those timeouts being burned by Tomlin really could have come back to bite them big time.
