Yep. Bradshaw got benched a few times, too.

I agree with you on this. Not only that the coaching held him back in the first half by giving him limited simple plays that the defense could easily defend. Give him a chance to use the whole play book and let the chips fall were they may.

    He didn’t throw 5 interceptions.
    So I’m ok.

He looked better than that Washington QB last night.

He's playing whether we want to give him a chance or not.

I think one problem Sunday was that they wanted Mason to get comfortable making some short, easy passes. That's a common tactic to get a new quarterback (or one who's trying to overcome some bad plays) comfortable before going for harder plays. The issue is that they pretty much never went past that initial "warm up" of getting him comfortable and making quick, easy passes. They just kept doing that all day, for the most part, and that isn't going to work very often for a full game, if at all.

Yet our genius coaches did nothing. Instead they sent Conner and Samuels out wide where they pose absolutely no threat instead of using them to chip on the outside pass rushers. You know like what NE did to Watt. Nah we’re smarter than them.....

lol i dont know what we are doing anymore.

let Mason be Mason and sling that ball. INT be damned. He even says they dont rattle him at all. He also states he lets the OC do whatever they want and he will follow. Ficktner sucks bad

Will he ever be an elite top flight qb? No. But is he a bust? That's too early to call. But in this day and age of football in comparison to old, younger guys get thrown into the fire a lot quicker than what they did in Bradshaw's days. And usually pretty early you can see if a guy has it or not.

Rudolf is the least of our concerns!

We have coaching nightmares at virtually every position!

I fear the Steelers are in for some rough years and it starts at the top!

We don’t even know if he will not be a top flight qb. Mahomes he is not but there’s a chance he can be elite

It was not so much that he was horrific, he just did a lot of things that, at that time, were considered foolish...........but they worked!

Foles and Flacco have won SBs relatively recently. Goff and Kaepernick went to a SB. We need to build a solid team around him in all phases. Besides Brady who’s winning like he does? Ben has 2 in 15 years. With the right coaches and team ,is that a pipe dream?

Tom Brady in the 3rd game of 2001, I believe his second start ever, was 12 of 24 for 86 yards. Anyone deciding anything about Mason Rudolph after one start, in which the offense as a whole did little to help him, is an idiot.

Exactly, he had them with the lead in hand, and the clock winding down. He did what he needed to do. He didn't fumble the game away.

Give Mason another chance? Is there another choice? Duck Dodgers to the rescue?

Worse case, take your lumps with Mason and find out if he looks like a future starter or not.

Whatever you say. Rudolph played better than Ben has on the west coast in many years. Hell...it was Vick who won at San Diego in 2015.

I appreciate everything Ben has done for the Steelers over the years, but he has been terrible for a long time in west coast road games.

Roethlisberger would have been shut down in the first half, too vs. 49ers.

I feel OK about Mason. Yeah, he didn't do great, but he also got pretty much no help from the rest of the offense or the coaches. The biggest thing to me was that I didn't really see him look rattled. Remember Dobbs last year in Oakland? Deer in the headlights, and you just KNEW that he wasn't going to produce anything after a series or two. With Mason, I always had hope - and he paid off with two TDs once Fichtner remembered that forward passes are a thing in the NFL.
