I've had 5 guys. It's pretty good. But the legend of In N Out is strong. Won't know until I can try it for myself.

It's good for drive through but, IMO, doesn't live up to the hype. Kinda like the Browns!

The best thing about in-n-out was the bumper stickers they had in the 80s. They just said, In-N-Out Burgers. You would put one on your car and cut off the B and second r...….

In N out isnt the same quality of burgers they had 30 years ago, they were bigger and mesquite grilled then, today they are more in line with any fast burger joint, thats just my opinion of course.....

You're right on the fries - probably cause they're fresh and not cooked in EPA mystery oil. :hmm: What makes In N' OUT so good (IMHO) is the whole package, not just the wafer thin yet tasty patties. Was in Texas last year and discovered What-a-Burger - very good double double and being Texas, they don't skimp on the bovine if you know what I mean Vern. Didn't care for the only 5-Guys here in the high desert, lousy location, poor parking and no drive-thru plus food was marginal. Steak & Shake right off the 15 in Victorville was good but it folded after 2 short years. There's also a Freddy's Burger joint right off the 15 also and that's not bad. None of them are as good as my old fave, In n' Out - been a fan since my very first Double Double in 1966.

In a rare move, I have to disagree Diamond. Just had a Double Double 3 days ago and IMHO I don't think it's changed one iota in the 50+ years I've been devouring them. The only change they've made since 1948 (?) is they added Diet Coke to the menu when it first arrived. Unless you have insider knowledge (like you worked there) or are related to the Snyder family, I never ever recall any wood infused aromas (or tastes) emanating from an In n Out, even when they had the tiny drive-through only shacks. But it's all about taste and In n' Out never seems to be hurting for customers, the lines are always crazy.

The cool thing to do back in the 70's/80's was with the giveaway In N' Out Burger bumper stickers was to remove the "B" and the "last "R" from Burger so the sticker read "In N" Out urge". :hehehe: ....so whatever that means....guess I'll have to ask Iowa Jim for his take on it. ;)

Not sure it's worth $1000 to travel to the People's Republic of Kalifornia but if you ever find yourself west of the Rockies, you do have to try one. Heck, just send me postage and I'll express mail one to you vacuum sealed with my 5th generation Ronco Food Sucker Apparatus.

FYI, they've expanded to Texas for the first time - my Step-Daughter in Houston is ecstatic - she could eat there every day and twice on Sundays.

They have at least one in Denver. My cousin said she couldn't understand what all the hype was about!

That's probably my problem with them. They had been hyped so much when I was younger, (and the closest one was just south of the 5/405 split) that it was a let down when I finally tried one. There's a Tommy's here in Kearny Mesa. Pretty good chili cheeseburgers!

I want an In N Out and a Chick Fil A.

I'm not a big chain guy, but dang I could go for those 2 places.

My city is finally getting an IHOP .

Chick Fil A is great for fast food. We just started getting them here in Connecticut recently.

    IHOP is... coma-inducing

On a side note, I bounced over one day from Digby to Saint John and found a really good “Mexican” restaurant. My wife’s family ran a restaurant in New Mexico so she knows. Not exactly what I expected in NB.

    :smiley1:

Don’t ask the next question, it was 30 years ago.

    :lolol:

You know that question was coming. Good Mexican is not common around here.

I love that digby to Saint John ferry ride. Please don't judge NB based on Saint John :lolol: smog city.

Oh my Steel City - I always thought the NB was short for Nebraska and I thought you were a Cornhusker, but now I realize you're from New Brunswick instead, not even close geographically or culturally. I'd love to visit the east coast of Canada, have been to Ontario and all over western Provinces. On the bucket list.

Indeed! It is damn beautiful out here. Most don't live out here for the lack of jobs or the poor economy. But very beautiful.

Always meet people from the states up with an RV or hauling a trailer who want to tour the Maritimes coastline. Highly recommend!

If you decide to go to Nova Scotia it is also very nice. Just go after May. I went in mid May. It was closed. The entire province was closed.

Every restaurant, provincial park, hotel... thank god for B&Bs. I stood on the shore in Lunenburg and it was snowing. I didn’t plan that beach trip well.
