Don't freak out...but according to this Beaver County Times article, JH might need to have his knee scoped before the season starts. Read more~

Wow, I was not expecting this.... But, I would rather have him get it scoped ASAP so he will have more time to be ready for Week 1.

This is what I should bve seeing. Some real reporting, not speculation. They draw no conclusions and sound no false alarms with that article.

I look for James to be out there for the opener. I said before that this year will be very telling for him. I still think he will have a dominant year but his time may be growing short in Pit. Please, let me be wrong on this!

Seriously, I was thinking if he MIGHT need it then he probable DOES need it, or will before the end of the season... Better to do it now (even if he potentially misses week 1) than in the middle of a playoff hunt.

Starting to wonder if Harrison's body will hold up this year. We really need to address our LB position. Our young guys just haven't shown anything yet.

Agreed. I think Brandon Johnson could be a great asset to this team though. I think he could start outside and be serviceable. He probably wouldn't bring much in the pass rush department but he can play the run and cover the pass well. We could rotate in Worilds/Carter on passing downs.

And if Harrison does miss time and Worilds can't step in, it's time for him to go. He should know the playbook and the OLB position like the back of his hand by now.

And here I thought it was his back surgeries that were keeping him out of camp.

Not sure that I agree with your opinion here. Carter was getting a good deal of pressure against Philly's starting offense. He looked to be playing fast. Obviously there is no "replacement" for JH on this team, or practically any team, but the defense is not going to fall apart because he isn't playing.

I say get it scoped, get healthy, and be on the field for the end of the season rather than rushing back or putting it off to play week 1.

Philly has a pretty terrible Oline, plus it's pre-season so I don't view that as significant. I hope Carter can step in and play well, but I remember last year when Harrison was out and Woodley wasn't healthy, we had no pass rush at all.

I agree with others... Scope it now and start the heeling process. Why wait and hope that it takes care of itself?

I am in the camp of fix everyones injuries now before they become worse. I have seen many teams start the season bad and come on and finish strong when other teams are suffering injuries or just burnt out. by game 10 we won't care too much about the first 3 games. I know conference records and all the junk come into play for the playoff picture. This whole team is in flux right now anyway with old guard new guard changes and brand new offensive scheme. Pretty soon we will be dealing with a new defense.

Im sure there are just as many problems happening league wide to worse organizations. The sky isn't falling. The best decisions should be made by mature level headed and experienced professionals. It might not be pretty this year but, some good things will happen I'm pretty confident of it.

Nobody hates it more when our stars are off the field, but I like to see the depth bolster their game experience for when we need solid rotations to stay fresh. Basically, I have learned the the beginning of the season never (rarely) looks like the end of the season.

Just read that worst case scenario has him doing the surgery, but depending on how it responds if he can't go week 1 he will likely be placed on Reserve PUP forcing him to sit for the first 6 weeks.
    That downright sucks!

The first game needs to be a beat down like we suffered last yr. For 3 friggin months all I heard was about Denver and Teabow. From the sports centers to the replays on TV of the game to band wagon fans. I want a slaughter in Denver.

Steelers OLB James Harrison underwent arthroscopic surgery on his troublesome knee Wednesday morning.
He's going to miss regular season action, and may even begin the season on the reserve/PUP list, which would cost Harrison the first six games. In Harrison's four missed games in 2011, the Steelers went 4-0 and allowed just 16.75 points per game, though the Jaguars, Cardinals, and Titans were three of their opponents and that's not necessarily a predictive statistic. Look for Chris Carter and Jason Worilds to share snaps across from LaMarr Woodley while Harrison is out. Harrison is 34 years old and the knee has been an ongoing issue, so it's shaping up as a long-term concern. Aug 15 - 3:14 PM

Not good. Not sure how long JH can hold a spot with all these injuries on his aging and beat up body. Aarron Smith anyone?

Not sure that's the best comparison, considering James hasn't missed any time, despite his chronic injuries.

He missed 4 games last year with a broken eye bone, which we really can't blame him or his body for, since he was headbutted in the eyebone with a helmet. And in years past he's missed a game or two here and there, but I don't recall it ever being anything important (usually like the last game of the season before playoffs, with our spot assured). I think he missed the last two regular season games with a bad ankle a couple years ago.

I know we hear a lot about his injuries, but it's always during the offseason. When the games come, he straps it on, even if he's less than 100%, and dominates.
