They've only been bad for the past couple years not sure how that is considered perennial.

Don’t like this at all. Reeks of negativity with very little positive outcome for the Steelers.

Why risk locker room upheaval this late in the season during a playoff push?

Why go public with the defensive incompetence vs the Patriots?

Most importantly, why give Bill Belichick a motivational ploy he can use to fire up his team?

It does make me think the Pats and Boston media are getting a chuckle out of this. It comes across as embarrassing.

Exactly. I am not sure the numbers so thank you for posting the win loss ratio. I would make it a permanent hire for any coach that could have the Steelers beat NE :)

Because the Rooneys are pissed. Cant blame them after what we are witnessing on the field. How could it get worse then it is.. I say bring in whatever you need even if its a donkey that can kick the field goal.. lol

Normally I agree, doesn’t hurt to try new things. I just think the timing is very stupid. We know we struggle vs them so hire the guy Feb 2018 instead of week 15!

If the Rooney's were ever serious about competing with the Pats they would have done something like 5 years ago. It would have been nice to have competing dynasties.

    K. Well those Giants teams had Tuck, Strahan, JPP, Alford, and Umenyora. Who do we have that's even close to those guys?

It's pretty sad when you have to bring in another coach to show what the current coach should have already had figured out. If i were affiliated with the top shelf of this organization, id be ashamed of even making such announcement.

It's basically management tripping all over themselves to adhere to their ridiculous standards. Ok we can't fire the head coach ever or staff right now so let's do this instead...

I'd like to see them make a subpackage based off the wide-9. Have Heyward, Hargrave and Tuitt a bit more tight together to get pressure in Brady's face, have Dupree lined up wide with his hand in the dirt pointed right at Brady. Watt can jam Gronk at the line and I mean jam him hard with Edmunds lined up to bracket him. Fort and Bostic clog up underneath routes and Hilton/Sutton takes Efelman.

I'm up for anything. The problem is that we don't jam receivers ever. They allow a free release and play soft zone behind it. Any pressure we could dream about generating is quickly nullified by allowing pitch and catch. When teams feel the need to go deep they just add a extra blocker and abuse our safeties.

Yeah that's why I wasn't down on Burns two weeks ago or Hilton last week. If the coaches aren't calling for them to get up and maul guys off the snap of the ball, especially up against the goaline then you are setting them.up to fail.

My hope for Sunday is that they tackle with extreme prejudice. We know Brady is going to dump it off to his Rb's and Edelman. So when it happens tackle them and make it hurt, they will get nervous and some of those passes could get dropped. Explode into them as legally as you can and make it hurt. Old school Steeler ball.

That is more so on the lack of confidence of Burns; the Kansas City game especially. While the secondary has not gotten any splash plays, Pittsburgh ranks third currently in passes over 40 yards with five; down from 13 from all of last season. There is considerable improvement there. Also, as you said, the tackling has improved as well.

Now, if nothing comes of note for Edmunds by year three, two even if the situation is far worse than it is now, then I would consider it. This is also accounting for the defensive back Pittsburgh elects to acquire either in Free Agency or the draft the same.

Yeah that post gave me a chuckle. Eli has same # of SB wins as Ben. Played a hell of a lot better in both of them winning MVP and they beat a team that eats us for lunch. (TWICE!!)

We probably have more playoff appearances during the BEN/Eli years but we pretty much just have to worry about Balt., they have 3 other teams to contend with.

I think teams are having such an easy time completing short and itermediate passes they don t need to go deep, also we have been getting more pressure and Hargrave has improved more than anyone else.

I am amazed we rank or have stats that are favorable on the defensive side it seems everyone just marches up and down the field at will.
