I often wonder this despite the very real possibility there will be a sound bite soon of Art Rooney saying he fully supports Tomlin as HC.

I honestly don't know if Art Rooney cares all that much considering every NFL franchise is guaranteed to make money. I just don't know how he couldn't be bothered by this team's performance.

The sad part is that another storied NFL franchise, the Packers finally got the message that you have to evolve with today's NFL. Will the Steelers ever?

May I ask what you think today's NFL is? Is it the star QB running the organization, because from what I see Roethlisberger has the same leash Rodgers has?

No. We have a diva QB. Defense is bad. I can only beg we fire Butler though

In hindsight the Steelers, like everyone else, miscalculated the Bell situation. Bell should have been left to walk and the Steelers should have put his money toward a defensive stud to help replace the loss of Shazier. Khalil Mack would have looked great in a Steelers jersey and would have made the secondary better just because what he does in front of it. Or the Steelers should have traded up in the draft to secure one of the top 4 linebackers. This is where the organization needs do some re-evaluation.

But a true long term business decision needs to be made.
Art II you better have been doing your homework. Their out there you have to find them.
I had all the trust in Dan Rooney, Art II not so much. A statement must be made by ownership
saying we will not stand for this mediocre play and coaching. We are paying you guys MILLIONS
    we want results.

This is a funny topic. No matter how you look at this, the Steelers are still on top of a weak division and not out of the playoffs. They still have a winnnig record. I am a firm believer that anything can happen. Ask Miami, And Dallas. Wait we need McCarthy who had the equal talent on offense and same talent we have on defense but his team only had 4 wins

Disagree. We have way more talent on offense; Better line, better wideouts, GB has a better QB because he doesn’t make as many bad decisions, but Ben is surrounded by more talent.

Yeah we still have a winning record on top of a weak division. We also have momentum going into the final games right? Here's Tomlin on the game. If this doesn't embarrass the ownership then there is no way they will ever wake up. Anything can happen right? Yep our defense will step up and kill Brady and the Pats. Our D backs couldn't stop receivers that were picked off the waiver wire. They had a defensive end working retail before the game. Started 10 rookies and we could do nothing. Played Hobbs because as Tomlin put it "we were in the flow of the game" Here read his words for yourself and see if you don't think this is pathetic.

Here is a statement from Tomlin that will tell you all you need to know about this guy as a coach. I want anyone on this board to explain it to me in a way that will make sense.

He probably could’ve come in a series or so sooner, but we were in a rhythm and flow of the game,” Tomlin said.

    Rhythm and flow?

There you go. That statement means nothing. Zero. you can also read from that that Ben was good to go when he came back to the bench. You don't heal anymore in a couple series. What rhythm and flow did any of you see with Dobbs running the offense? Anyone? I look for the Rooneys to give everyone the finger and extend him as early as today. Trust the Rooneys

Here's more from the coach on time management.
But the ending doesn’t change the fact Tomlin didn’t call a timeout — it would have been his second — after a 39-yard pass play gave the Raiders the ball at the Steelers 7 with 1:46 left. He allowed the clock to run down to 1:16 before an Oakland running play gained 1 yard and then down to 34 seconds before an incomplete pass. After an Oakland incompletion on third down, Tomlin finally called a timeout — with the clock stopped — with 25 seconds left to set his defense for fourth down. The Raiders won the game with a 6-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Derek Carr to tight end Derek Carrier with 21 seconds remaining. Roethlisberger wouldn’t have had time to pull out the game if not for that hook-and-lateral miracle. That timeout that Tomlin took back to Pittsburgh with him could have left the Steelers with no chance.

“I wanted to keep a timeout for offense,” Tomlin said. “You guys know I kind of have that mentality about it. I wasn’t sure JuJu was going to get out of bounds on the subsequent possession. I just wanted to keep a timeout.”

Again, I don’t understand that mentality. An offense can stop the clock with an incompletion or even with a spiked ball. You can’t stop the clock on defense unless you use timeouts.

“I thought we had a chance to stop them [on fourth down],” Tomlin said.

    Wrong again.

And here is his meaningless ending to his attempt to explain yet another defeat to a bottom feeder.

Tomlin promised to “look at all aspects of what we’re doing … I have to rectify that, not only what we’re doing [but] what we’ve asked those guys to do. … We’re going to absorb the negativity that comes with our current position. We understand that we created it. It’s our job to fix it.”

See there? more "Tomlin speak". I've said elsewhere. Look for the Rooneys to give all the fans the middle finger and extend him very soon.

    last item

Losers of three in a row, unable to beat a wounded 2-10 team starting 10 rookies, unable to generate a 100-yard rushing performance since about Halloween — you don’t think there’ll be negativity do you?

Raiders started 10 rookies. One guy picked up at a home depot I think. This was Tomlin at his worst

I look for the Rooney to extend Tomlin before the next game. Good times

I believe they quit on McCarthy to be honest. They have Aaron Jones, Adam, Jimmy G.and Rodgers. We have JuJu to out number them. I like Connor but he is hurt and we stuck with a te at rb. Both def is bad do to def of coach. Lb trying to cover wr. That's the joke.

Said it before, and I’ll say it again; Tomlin is a great interview, great at coach-speak, and a good motivator, but a terrible coach.

The rooney's just look at their bank accounts after a loss and sleep like babies. All they care about is being competitive so they sell season tickets and merchandise....maybe help the league land a better TV deal each year. If they expected SB's Tomlin would have been fired by now. We are watching Ben's career go to waste because of poor coaching.

I don’t know if they are embarrassed but I sure am! And I’m catching hell already here at work about how stupid Tomlin is. All I can do is agree with them. It’s gonna be another long Monday thanks to this poorly coached Steelers team. Thanks Mike...

As soon as I walked into the lockeroom.at work...3 or 4 guys started on me...That dumb s.o.b....why the hell didn't he call T.O....Then he called a T.O. after an incompletion...They all continued to ride me ( we have a mixed bag ) I work at a large Mill...

Point is...These are freakin Steelworkers bringing up valid points...The Rooneys HAVE to know these aren't just blown assignments or bad luck or talent...

These are blatantly bad, absolutely horrific decisions by the HEAD Coach, who costs us game after game, that we could have one every one the last 3 weeks...

If Rooney DOESN'T say anything ( which he won't ) imo...Then like other posters have alluded to...It IS purely just a buisness for him, no more, no less...Why should us ( fans ) get so upset, When the owner doesn't even really give a ****

4th and short and you use two down linemen on defense. that said it all to me. just like using ILB'ers to cover WR's. it's like someone on dope or an alcoholic having to hit rock bottom every time to look at what's not working. we are not good or consistent at any phase of the game. just like the changing cleats because we couldn't stand up. that should have been addressed before the game started. there is no detail to the smallest of things let alone major things.

The final record will be 8-7-1 and Tomlin will have another winning season and be retained, and this is sad. I do want him fired and I'll explain why and it isn't hard to understand. Some say it is player execution and I agree, but poor execution over and over is a problem with this team under Tomlin.

How many times does the team come out and looked like they haven't practiced? My point is the consistent poor execution is a product of a team that isn't prepared for the task at hand. I still remember hearing Tomlin say in an interview that they don't let teams dictate how they prepare, they are going to "Do what we do!".

That statement is why we see this team struggle against mediocre teams. It is clear that when a team has a game plan to counter what the Steelers are doing they look lost and very seldom can they overcome the issues. The Chargers game was a perfect example, San Diego made halftime adjustments on the defensive and offensive sides of the ball and the Steelers couldn't counter because they do what they do.

The only way they win against the Pats and Saints is for the teams to rest the starters and even then it will be tough. NE isn't going to lose, they just lost to the Dolphins, their coach will fix the issues they have right now and will once again look like world beaters while we will get "Tomlinisms". We are the Packers of the AFC, like it or not.

I don’t think that is fair to say. I consider myself a real fan, but I am not going to just grin and say oh well to the Steelers under-achieving and playing down to talentless bums like the Raiders. Every. Year.

Ah yes, only real fans get in line and say thank you, may I have another. Those who want to voice their displeasure or affect change, the only real way one can, are not real fans.
