If Ben Buys in, AND THIS IS A BIG IF, I think he will be helped tremendously
by Todd Haley. Ben did not improve under BA, He is a superstar with all the tools
that gets by on his athleticsm. Just think if he worked on his mechanics, film study?

There are some who don't care for Ben but I will say this, he has a desire to win no matter what. I see him doing as Haley says and buying into it 100% and if they win like that there will be no problems at all. However, if they lose more the 2 games out of the first 5 then there will be problems especially if the offense isn't scoring running Haley's game plan perfectly, I think in that scenario we will end up watch more sandlot style of play from Ben.

This goes both ways. Ben is what Ben is. I'm not saying that he can't be better or improve but Haley has to buy into what Ben is as much as Ben has to buy into what Haley is selling. You have to be careful with a player like Ben not to take away what makes him...him. What would you have if you would have taken Fonzie's leather jacket, thumbs up and his "Heyyyyy"? And yet the Cunninghams were able to help him become a better person without changing who he was. Yes I know this a cheesie comparison and I do understand I'm dating myself but I believe most of you will know what I'm saying here.

I think that Haley is going to insert some sandlot football into the offense. He knows that's Bess specialty and will use it ,but in a controlled manner.

    Sit on it Iowa :lolol:

Haley has already said he isn't going to take away Bens strengths, he said it's what makes Ben so great.

It's hilarious living in Kc everyone here hates Haley and thinks he sucks and will make us bad, but as a coordinator I think we will do us some good...

I know this is preseason but it seems like for the short time Ben was in, he was running for his life again. I hope we get this situation straightened out before the reg. season.

I love this stat from the box score: 26 pass attempts (counting sacks), 39 rushing attempts.

I've never been in favor of the idea that we're the Steelers; thus, we must run the ball. (The 50 or whatever attempts against New England seemed effective.) Nonetheless, if we can pass the ball when we have to, but be willing to pound the rock (at a time when most defenses are probably more prepared to stop passes), that sounds good to me!

Thats funny, Romeo really tore up in Cleveland didn't he? There is only one Belecheck
it will be the same sorry ass Chiefs. Maybe the Hunts will get rid of the Bill Belecheck
wanna be they have running the team.

I believe from what I have read from the Steelers is that it is not that we are going to run the ball more than pass. (With our offensive weapons and a franchise quarterback, that would be wasteful.) However, we are still going to run the ball, but run it more effectively. Also, it seems to be more important to Haley and the Steelers that we be able to run the ball when the other team knows we are going to run it. (Like on the goal line 3rd and 1) This smash mouth football is what we have missed since Bettis left. Lately, we have just run the ball poorly and ineffectively. Then, we often completely go away from it like often against Baltimore. Having a good Offensive Coordinator calling the right plays at the right time will make a huge difference. Having a line that can block and open holes together will take some time, but will make all the difference in how we run the ball leading to how we throw it.
