Those who think this team will not miss Wallace are crazy. He is a double covered deep threat, let's see how AB does when he doesn't have that.

But having said that, I fully expect Wallace will be back within the next two weeks. He misses a couple of weeks of training camp, gets and extended off season, yet will back in time to learn the offense and make his disatisfaction. He'll play out his year in Pit, and test the market year.

To those that think he ain't a $50M WR, Stevie Johnson, talented but flawed head case in Buffalo is getting $8M/yr on his 5-yr contract. Wallace is far better and they are the same age. If he plays out this year, someone will pay him $10M /yr.

He may be overstating his worth. But he hasn't shown to be the idiot that Buress or Santonio were. And I would argue his talent is their equal.

If Rainey can get into the game on those screens and as a wideout....

Rainey has speed as well, he just doesn't have the size.

If you meant Saunders, you're wrong. If you meant Sanders, you're wrong.

Sanders is a legit 4.4 guy which is very fast, so you can say he has speed. But to say he has deep speed is a little misleading. He might have okay deep speed, but he's still a mile away from Wallace. Their times might be very close in terms of numbers, but they are not close at all on the field. The difference is DBs can run with a 4.4 guy, and they can't run with Wallace. The result is touchdowns, tons of extra coverage, and both. Sanders is fast, but not even close to being fast enough to make the difference Wallace can.

You re exactly right, the Steelers offered him 5 yr $50 mil and he refused it.

yes of course i meant sanders. he's run 4.3 before also and runs under 4.4, he's plenty fast enough to get deep. no he's not wallace but he's closer then you think. there are not tons of db's that can hang with him. second cb's too. brown should have the #1 on him. trust me , i'd love to have wallace here, but he's not. they will run what we brung, until close to the start of the season. alot depends on who steps up other then the big 3.

As much as Wallace has pissed me off, by looking like a spoiled brat, who wants more than I think he is worth...
That article was a good read, and I think anyone who thinks we won`t miss him, is wrong.
That being said, just because we will miss him, doesn`t mean we can`t still succeed!
We still have plenty of talent, "home run threat", or not.
This is a TEAM sport, and the rest of our team, is still plenty good.
I would still like to see him play for us, but I think he has hurt his chances, with his greed.
Just because I miss an ex-girlfriend, that made me very happy at the time, doesn`t mean I can`t find another woman, that can make me even happier than the last...
As Ike(I think), told him.. You need football... football doesn`t need you.
Get your ego in check, and report for duty, son!
I also agree with an earlier poster, who basically said that Wallace doesn`t necessarily want to play for US... he wants to play where he will get paid the most.
We tend to keep, and reward loyalty, around here.
More power to ya, kid, just remember you coulda been on our team, when we win the next 2 or 3+ Superbowls, while you are chasing the almighty dollar!

    Exactly.

There's a confusion of 'work ethic' and 'negotiation strategy' going on here.

Just to clarify I am not bashing Wallace's work ethic, it was in comparison to Brown. Brown has had a tougher hill to climb to make the team and to get where he is. Wallace had the easier road of the two. I think both have tremendous talent and upside but it seems right now Brown is doing more with less god given ability. I think we will miss Wallace a lot if he does not end up being a Steeler long term. I want both of these guys for years to come. My hope is Wallace finally gets into camp so we can all discuss how he needs to get up to speed on the new offense and quit worrying about his negotiation strategy.

life will go on here with or without wallace. i'm not near as worried if sanders can stay healthy. he can be a deep threat. brown can be a threat too. i also already talked about how big that will make cotchery in this offense. he should be single covered most times and i like the odds of a vet like him doing damage to defenses. don't forget another blazer we have that they will have to account for rainey. it's going to be extremely difficult to cover all these weapons. if they do heath will be there to do damage. it's not like the cupboard is bare here. sure it would be nice to have wallace but it's not going to diminish what we put on the field as far as firepower to the extent we can't score. it's up to ben to put it in the right guys hands on any given play.

I get what the author is saying. Wallace is dynamic with an amazing gear but the Steelers just cannot afford his asking price. It's a passing shootout league and I question whether the money we have tied up on defense is worth what we give up by not having Wallace.

we got rid of 4 higher paid guys off that defense. smith, hoke, farrior, gay and casey took a big reduction. the 3 corners are not making that much. troy, harrison, woodley, timmons, ike, clark is really it. we can't get rid of all of them. we will have guys to sign nextyear too. his contract is there. 2.74 mil. he has to sign it. they will work on the rest after that. or he walks next year.

I'm not concerned about Wallace missing camp - it isn't difficult to run a fly pattern, post or flag route on passing plays and wiff on your block during a running game. My only fear of him not showing up is Brown being exposed as average - Wallace commands the #1 CB and safety over the top, leaving Brown with CB #2 or #3.

Bus knows the organization well and he is right about the Wallace situation.

ON a sidenote I was surprised they spoke of Bens injury which really is a non issue ..

The STEELERS already have their best WR signed for the next 5 seasons.
