The media trolls are at it again. Stirring up controversy and drama so they have something to talk about.

Anyone that watched the following interview, would not have painted Ben like the media is currently.

    Starts around minute 6.

Ben is the undisputed leader on this team. He has earned that role on this team, and he did not exclude himself from criticism.

And these guys say Ben is being dramatic. Need to point the finger right at themselves.

he has earned the right and should be the motivator as the leader and captain. washington has to learn he has been given a rare opportunity and unless he does his part there is someone else waiting for their chance and will take it for the good of the team. he is just being truthful to the kid. pick up your game and make these catches, it's real simple.

He was spot on, everything he said was spot on.

Criticism he is receiving is ridiculous.

It was very un-Ben like. He usually is a guy who always puts a loss on his shoulders and takes the blame.

I mean this is a guy who wouldn't even call out how bad his offensive line used to be when he was leading the league in getting sacked.

But, I think it was said in a right way, and in the right tone. Sometimes when some one acts differently it raises the heads.

Kind of like when the old players talk about Chuck Noll. They say he never gave an inspirational speech and wasn't a raw raw motivator. Because he said your professionals and if I have to motivate you, I will fire you.
But, when Madden's Raiders beat the Dolphins in the divisional round. This was on the way to their first Super Bowl I believe. Madden made the comment that the best two teams played today, and we came out on top.

I guess Chuck used that Newspaper headline, and told them. The best two teams didn't play today. The best team in the league is in this locker room.

Joe Greene said that was the closest thing he ever saw from Chuck that was motivational. Then Greene said, the Raiders had no chance of winning that game after that.

Maybe Big Ben calling out guys, gets the team more motivated. Because this isn't how Big Ben usually is, given past history.

I actually love Ben saying what he said. Players have to be accountable. "Oh but he threw 2 picks." Well guess what, he would have never thrown the goalline one if Grimble doesnt go full r-tard, Conner doesnt drop the ball for no reason, and Washington doesnt do whatever the hell that was. Game should have been a blowout.

Oh and dont forget about Vance dropping an easy TD (was bailed out by a fake FG but Boz though)

Another situation I've seen players and people with no pitt affiliation criticize someone on the Steelers for.

So where was his criticism of those veteran guys? Their plays especially Conners and Grimbles were way more damaging. Not for nothing and maybe I'm wrong about this but how come it seems that Ben is all PC with reporters but soon as he gets on his radio show the controversies begin?

As long as he is criticizing himself too, I have no problem with him calling players out. They need to be called out.

When I heard Mike Zimmer call the Patriots extremely disciplined today, I got jealous as $hit.

Something has to happen with this crew and if it takes Ben calling them out then more power to him.

Ben said you have to know how to reach players, they aren't all the same. Why is it so hard for you guys to accept that maybe Ben know what he is doing. I think he knows his teammates better than the fans do.

And no, I'm deferring to Ben on what JW needs.

I'm still waiting for the reason why criticizing a young rookie in public for a dropped pass is better for that rookie than to just do it man to man. Ben has a history of throwing people under the bus ,justified or not you don't do it. It's not a display of leadership...

Washington knew he needed to make that catch. That goes without being said.

Ben's never been a good leader. On top of it he shouldn't be criticizing anyone else because he's making game altering mistakes. Only one or two players have more turnovers than Ben. Ben has a history of this drama queen stuff so it isn't surprising.

"You have to be able to know how to motivate different guys different ways," Roethlisberger said, https://247sports.com/nfl/pittsburg...-to-Ben-Roethlisbergers-criticism--125518869/

" "I think that’s part of being a leader, being a captain, just understanding players. Sometimes, you just grab them off to the side. Sometimes, you just have to be honest with them. So, I feel that I’ve earned the right to do that as long as I’ve been here. And I’ll be just as critical of myself in front of you guys as well."

He obviously believes calling out Washington is going to ultimately help him. He's not trying to destroy the kid. I gauantee that. Motivate him. Probably.

The realty is in this league it doesn't matter what you've done in college. Lack of production gets you out of a job. He's just calling it like it is. I think ultimately this will help Washington.

As pointed out, the media has been far more of a 'drama queen' then Ben. The reality is, every team needs players who are leaders. Ben is that for this team, whether people like that reality or not. He's by far one of the most senior members on this squad and he has two superbowl rings to show for it. There is no question who is in charge of this offense.

In private or by the coach, yes, not on a radio show by a QB who is damn near at the top of the league in INT's. I don't give a **** if he is going to the HOF, there's a time and a place for everything. How quickly Ben forgets all his issues over his career. The only reason he's the leader is because he's the QB and the QB is always the leader of a team. That's just the way it is. Ben is an arrogant ******* and if he wasn't the QB I doubt he'd be anything resembling a captain.

Since when does anyone on earth ever need to be criticized publicly to the entire world? How has that ever helped anybody? Nobody wants to be criticized publicly, especially when their mistake was embarrassing and seen by everyone with a TV.

It's amazing how Ben can do anything he wants just because he's going to the HOF, has 2 SB's, etc. How does that justify his actions? What is the downside to him making these comments in private? I can think of plenty of downside to him doing what he did, including more drama for this team.
