This team, as is, has absolutely NO shot at a Super Bowl. This defense would stand no chance against better competition. Something has to give, or at least get better.

When LaBeau was here, it was his philosophy that defensive backs needed to be serviceable in pass coverage and excellent in run support. With the rule changes favoring offenses, that became an obsolete mindset, therefore the cupboard was left bare when it came to the secondary. It's true butler doesn't have a ton to work with, but I question the decision to hire Butler, a disciple of LeBeau's in the first place. LeBeau hasn't had any input on the last few draft. Take it for what it's worth. It isn't all on Butler, but he isn't blameless, either.

 

I'll be curious to see if the Jags are able to hang the Pats today because let's be honest we're not that team.

It looks like the Chiefs are picking us apart every time we play cover-2. For years we play zone by having our guys drop to a certain spot in the zone rather than covering guys as they come into their area of responsibility. QBs kill us left or right of these spots like a pitcher working the corners of the plate.

Late in the 2nd we were in a cover-3 shell or playing cover-2 with man coverage underneath and managed to stop them. Then the Chiefs started hitting Kelce in the seam so now that's not even working. We need to go get the best available safeties in free agency this year because we sure can't draft them lately.
