After the Kordell debate I read Dale's Blog and he asked this question. We also have seen plenty of TOP 10/20 Steelers so I'm curious what other steeler fans think so here it is, who was the worst ever.

I'm predicting a victory by Kent Graham but who really knows.

Huey Richardson, Jamain Stephens and Kent Graham are the ones I can remember.

Hmm, this is a tough one. I agree with the mentions so far. I'd say Graham has to be up at the top of that list for sure. Mark Malone knew how to stink pretty good, too. While I wasn't around to watch him play, Kent Nix deserves a spot on that list. Mitch Berger should probably get a dishonorable mention.

Tommy Maddox in Week 6 vs. Jacksonville in 2005 (Roethlisberger was injured). We lost in overtime 23-17 on an interception return for a TD.

I don't ever remembering see QB play that atrocious in my entire life by anyone. There are so many stats, plays, situations that damn Maddox to an eternity in hell for that game, I can't even begin to list them all. It was mind boggling.

maybe not the worst but one of the most disappointing for me was duece ... always hurt and came in with high expectations ? Limas Sweed might be in the same sentence... large expectations and no results?

I'm not as old as some poster's here but the two guys that I hated the most were probably Tommy Maddox and Chad Scott.

LOL, speaking of Kent Graham, I remember driving through Water Works Shopping Center back in 2000, (For those of you that don't live here in the Burgh, this is located near Fox Chapel, a suburb about 5-6 miles away from the city). So, low and behold, who walks out in front of my car to go into one of the stores, Kent Graham. I slammed my breaks on and thought, maybe I shouldn't have done that, I might have just saved our season if I wouldn't had slammed my breaks on. 8-) I know, I'm horrible.....

Completely agree. That game sums up my hatred for Maddox well. Mind boggling might not do it justice. There was also the loss to the expansion Houston Texans, in which Maddox was making his triumphant return from injury and Stewart was benched. Our defense allowed something like 1 first down and 30 total yards, and we lost 21-6 because of three Maddox turnovers (two INTs returned for TDs and a truly pitiful unforced fumble and botched recovery, returned for TD).

Devastating outcome, with the drops followed by injury. Most disappointing I could see, but I wouldn't call him the worst since he was pretty damn good at everything except catching, and only had about a dozen opportunities to do that in his whole career. He easily could have worked through those problems with more chances.

Am I the only one that remember how bad ass our offense was Ben's rookie season with the bus and deuce bowling through defenses? I won't argue Deuce was a disappointment but it seems a lot of people forget he played very well for one year.

I go back to the "old days--1962 we got" 3rd. and 30" Ed Brown from San Francisco, for Q.B. His nickname was spot on, he was by far the worst player I ever saw! Have a great day! :yeehaw:

Stands to reason that one of the worst Steeler players of all-time was named "Brown"!

I wouldn't count Limas Sweed what so ever. As mentioned earlier, the guy was only in on about a dozen plays. Out of those balls thrown to him, about half were horrible throws or un catchable balls. I am only including players who have seen signifcant playing time.

Maddox was never the same after laying on the field not moving for 15 minutes. That messed with his head big time. His first year as the starter was decent and he did have burress and hines both over a 1000 yards and I believe it was the first time in steelers history and didn't he also hold the yardage record for a few years until ben broke it

Seconded. This was an embarrassing game to watch.

I think with "worst" players you have to match up performance to ability and expectation. So Tee Martin is a good call in some respects, but he was never meant to be that great. Chad Scott, on the other hand, would be high up on the list. Mahan was pretty awful as well, and then when he was traded the "news item" on the old MB seemed to hang around at the top corner for like five years or something, just to rub it in.

:roflmao: If any of us get nostalgic for the old board, I'll ask TTF for a sticky entitled "REMEMBER SEAN MAHAN??? REMEMBER SEAN MAHAN?? HUH? DO YA???"

Tee Martin? Why not just name any random 7th round picks or UFDAs that were only active for one game and sat on the bench for it? How about Chad Spann?

I think he was the same. It was the same schtick all along. Pass pass pass, no mobility, high yards, high turnovers. The stupid thing is that people seemed to think that was an improvement over the old offense. They got starry-eyed over the yards and forgave the brutally ugly play. The only good thing he ever did was lead us to such a bad record that we were able to draft Ben.

He got burnt so many times, even his head coach Chuck Noll publicly referred to him as "Toast". He makes Gay look like an All Pro.

Am I the only person here who despises Anthony Smith? Or maybe everyone has just put him from their memories. Remember when he talked about how he would "light up" Wes Welker and then got torched the whole game and Brady even got up in his face. I think about two weeks later Mike Tomlin benched him and I honestly don't know what wound up happening to the guy. I just know that he ran his mouth and didn't back it up and that's not the Steeler way to run your mouth. But to then get punked on national tv is DEFINITELY not the Steeler way. So I vote Anthony Smith. 2nd place is David Johnson and Limas Sweed.
