If you honestly believe the NFL is rigged, walk away now. Why are you wasting your time and energy on this when the outcome is already decided?

Still here? Good, because the NFL is NOT rigged, not in the slightest. Are there games when it feels like the other team gets all the breaks? Yup. Tonight was one of those times. The Pats had 2 penalties against them but 0 holdings, PIs, illegal motion/formation. The two penalties they did have were penalties they refs had to call, they weren't judgement calls. If you go onto other team's boards after we beat them you often see the same crying about the rigged NFL and the Steelers ALWAYS getting the calls. The same loser talk I'm here around here. Seahawk fans are STILL crying about the SB in Detroit being rigged for the Steelers.

The refs can rig dropped passes or broken coverages. They can't rig Brady finding wide open Gronk several times. I hate that they over turned the touchdown call at the end of the game, but based on how the rules are written, it was the right call.

There are 2 games left this season. The Steelers still need to win them to lock up the #2 and get this team some much needed rest. They can still win #7!

NFL can be rigged, there has been many evidence in the past that some games had been rigged......it's also easy to fix nfl games because you only play 1 game per week as suppose to other sports so in the nfl any loss can be huge .

The NFL may not be rigged. However, the refs can influence the out come of games and point spreads with untimely and questionable calls. The team was robbed on the James TD catch.

Right on. As pissed as I was with the catch being overturned that is the correct call in today's NFL.
It is strange that a league worth billions has to keep redefining what is or is not a catch. What is strange is if he was a running back and reached out and touched the ball down it is instantly a TD in a milli second its over.
They have screwed this up beyond belief on every close catch you see what you think you see then wait for the refs to tell you what you thought you saw wasn't really what happened.

After I calmed down I didn't mind the out come reminds me of losing to Indy years ago knowing we would see them again.

I kind of like the idea of beating them once and not having to beat them twice. I still like our chances if Brown is not hurt too badly and Hayden comes back we should be better on both sides of the ball next time.

Next weekend I am suddenly a huge Bills fan, for one game anyway.

If we don’t have to play them again and win the Sb I’ll totally be ok with that

People are upset because they did not follow the rules. The call on the field was a TD. Anything after that has to be indisputable evidence. That means the ball would need to be on video hitting the ground, and there is no such video. You can say it could have hit the ground or it likely did, but if they follow their rules, they have to see it hit the ground. You do not know if his fingers were under the ball or not and they don’t either. The call on the field must prevail unless it is clear indisputable evidence, and this simply was not. If they called it incomplete then it should have stayed incomplete, it wasn’t. That is why folks are upset, this board is a place for folks to vent and be upset, if you thought no one would be upset, you probably shouldn’t read it.

    The NFL isn't rigged.
Some of the rules are so confusing that I'm not sure the refs are 100% sure how to call certain things. And I don't think the fans have a clear understanding what the rules are since the way they're called seems to change from crew to crew.

I do think the NFL likes the fact that these controversial calls create a buzz.

Seahawks Denver sb ....manning was overheard saying to Pete Carroll when will you pay up, for sea winning the sb in a huge margin vs the best offensive team in the leage..

Sb between steelers and cardinals , when BB throws the winning TD
Howard kossel has interviews with bookies in Vegas and they explain how ,yes there are many hands in many outcomes of the games ....but then again we can also agree that those people are conspiracy theoriests.

Howard kossel has many interviews with vegas bookies and they explain how ,yes some games are rigged ...Now some peope belive them some don't. ..And nfl basically knows they will keep selling their product no matter what tram wins or loses..nfl can do whatever they want, rules don't apply to them....that's why brady lost in court...judge said nfl is your boss, deal with it...

When the jets fan tried to sue the nfl for spyg ate judge shows him the back of his Tix and reminds him that hey it's all for entertainment, you don' like it don't watch.

Open your eyes Steeler Glen, stop and loom and your eyes don't deceive you, but if you got all the noise in your ear you get convinced as to what they want you to believe, that was TD, SIMPLE ,when you try and twist and turn it I guess they can convince it wasn't,, it was a TOUCHDOWN, we are a better team than they are from top to bottom and you know that, its not that complicated, and Belicheck isn't that great, its just you hear everywhere and then you believe it,this is a 14 billion dollar company ,keep buying your steelers nfl jerseys, and mugs etc etc and all these owners and players are getting paid bank, while you go work at Auto zone or whatever you do, talking about how great Tom Brady is even though your eyes tell you hes not, I can throw to Gronk and he will catch the ball vs a db that's half his size, whywouldnt a defensive coordinator double cover Gronk knowing that no one else on that team can beat you hmmm, go back and watch thhe past super bowl ,in one series before the half they called Atlanta on three consecutive 3rd downs ,defensive holding but it blew up in the nfls face when Atlanta picked it off finally and tell me its not rigged, or how we beat te Bengals somehow all the time, or the Chiefs somehow, different teams equals better ratings for the NFL hence more sponsors, equals more money and sadly enough that's what make the workld go round BRO,wake up use your head, BELICHECK ISNT THAT GREAT, BRADY ISNT EITHER, and this crap that they pick up off any one off the street and they are still good is crap. CLEVLAND BROWNS can be 16- 0 if the NFL wnts them to, but who outside Clevelnad wants to see them

What you smokin man, I want some....

James didn’t drop that TD on purpose. At the end of the day, we had ample opportunity to beat them. And, well, thank god we don’t have to beat them twice, because THAT might have been even harder.

    Here’s to hoping.

    Spot on.

My lingering, albeit now muted anger stems from the fact these possession rule(s) place far too much control of the game into the hands of replay, and by extension, officiating. This is not the only game that has been ruined by these thoughtless rules. And, although I don't agree at all with those that say the league is fixed, I understand where the accusations originate. To wit; a no pi call on Bryant's td. A no pi call on the last play. If you are "letting the boys play", then why call one on Burns? Even though it was the right call? The more complicated the rules become to appease replay, the more control officials can exert over any game. That is just another example of why people are spending their Autumn Sundays doing something constructive, and after today's latest product malfunction, I now understand.

The NFL is 32 owners. What sense would it make for 31 of them to agree to have New England win?

Because they care about making money, it doesn't matter to them, it matters who brings in the biggest draw for ratings, its simple, if games are not close, you stop watching, hence why every super bowl in the last 15 years or so are always down to the wire, if they are blowouts like the 90s most people would stop watching, and those sponsors who paids millions for that commercial spot would be pissed, so they need to control the outcomes.Dont get me wrong the guys are super freak athletes, they make incredible plays, but how easy is it really to screw up a drive, one holding call , goes from 1 and 10 to 1st and 20, that would make a little harder right? now do you believe they can call holding anytime they want? and show you evidence of that, pretty easy to do, how hard is it to cover step for step an athlete going 4.3 speed at you, and you to try and stop him by not being able to touch him at all? pretty hard, so the refs can call PI or defensive holding anytime they please? so you see a call here or a call there ,determines the flow and outcomes of these games, hence could theoritacally make the Cleveland Browns go from 0-16 to 16- 0 in one season if they really wanted to, but wherever I have been in this country, I rarely see Cleveland Brown fans, but I do see lots and lots of Steelers, Cowboys ,Packers and Patriots fans

Right, their pay is a reflection of the amount of total revenue brought in. The Bills don’t bring in top money, even in victory. The Cowboys are cash cows even in defeat. The patriots Bring in money if they win and are the face of the league.

This doesn’t make sense. Are you trying to say the Steelers were supposed to blow the patriots out? How come the patriots always blow the Steelers out?

While I do think PI should be a 10 yard penalty like it is in college, and that they choke their whistle on holding more often than not, but come on. The players strive for championships. You can see the emotion in the players faces. Look at Richard Sherman after the game ending pick in the super bowl. Pure emotion, not fake acting.

Games can be EASILY influenced. Just let one team get away with flagrant fouls like holding, defensive holding and DPI. Call a ticky tack penalty here or there on the other team. Many games are ultimately decided by just a handful of plays. Refs can easily put their thumb on the scale.

And with rules vague enough to call either way, it gets even easier.

The way this game was called, even IF they couldn't overturn that TD, we probably still lose. They could have flagged us repeatedly until NE is in FG range if necessary.

Yes. I'm serious. No. I'm not crazy or being a sore loser. This game was influenced greatly in favor of NE, and we still could have won. But the scale was tilted a bit too much (and Ben should have just thrown the damned ball away).
