Bud Dupree's 48

I don't know if anyone has brought this up but I still haven't been comfortable with Bud's jersey number "48" for a OLB. When he first got that number in his first year, I thought it was temporary but now appears to be his permanent number. I prefer 50's or 90's for OLBs. Does anybody know why he has "48"?

Not sure, maybe out of respect for the 50's? Maybe he wanted a unique number that stood out, no known steelers great's ever wore a 48?

 

It was changed in 2015 to let LBers wear 40-9 as well as the 50s and 90s.

Still don't see too many of them mind.

 

Maybe they will float him to the SS position.

 

48 is the mirror image of 84 so he wants to be balling as well as boomin like Brown

I think he's just a huge fan of that Eddie Murphy, Nick Nolte movie.

 

If he gets 12 ore more sacks this year, he can wear 48 all day long for all I care.

But it's a little hard, 3 numbers in the 50's won't be wore again 52. 58, 59
The 90's are taken up by the defensive lineman.

Hey why not 48 they really aren't any famous number 48's in steelers history.
