They haven't started building it yet. That seems really, really fast, doesn't it? It will either be open by August of 2014, or the contractor faces fines up to $20 million daily. So I think it will be open on time. Still, that's less than 30 months away and I don't think they've broken ground yet. I didn't realize it could be fone that fast. There will probably be a Super Bowl there a year or two after that. That will be nice -- an outdoor Super Bowl in the daytime. I hate that it's a night game now.

I guess they can work year-round in the Bay Area, so that could help speed things up. But 30 months from start to finish seems awfully fast. Any corners cut will show up during the simultaneous toilet flush test!

Is that a real thing?? I would totally volunteer to go down and flush one of the toilets. They should sell tickets.

Sure is! I know they did it when Lambeau was renovated and before they opened Miller Park, home of the Milwaukee Brewers. Maybe it's just a Wisconsin thing...

To get something that big built here in CA in 30 months? I'll believe it when I see it. Especially in the bay area. The enviro-wackos will hold it up somehow!

yeah. don't people realize how many ecosystems will be destroyed? what about the bugs?!?! are we forgetting the bugs?!?!

hell, a bunch of hippies sat up in a tree in berkeley refusing to allow it be tore down so they could make renovations to cal's football stadium.

i haven't heard word one about the new niners stadium being constructed. i believe they were 'talking' about putting it in santa clara (which would make it more like the san jose or santa clara 49ers).

i love candlestick's location, but it is a dump. i was just there for the steelers mnf game where i got to experience a friggin' blackout and miss my flight because there is only one road out of the stadium and it literally takes hours to depart. it was a nightmare. they desperately need an upgrade.

I think the Beatles' last concert was at Candlestick, and I don't ever remember hearing about it being remodeled. It's old. But I like it for sentimental reasons.

I read on the NFL Network crawl that construction was moved up from january 2013 to spring of 2012. They'll still be called the SF 49ers, but that's not so weird. Dallas plays in Irving, and both NY teams play in another state. Everybody's doin' it!
