With the announcement of ads coming soon to NBA jerseys, how soon before we see that in the NFL? Would any of you welcome that? I know it's a slow time of year, sorry for the lame thread.

This is a good thread. I don't like names on jerseys. Especially since teams have 70+ year histories without ads on jerseys.

In Europe they have heavy advertising in soccer and hockey on jerseys.

I think it's stupid to have "Samsung" written in giant letters across their chest.

Anything Goodell can do to make a buck though...

"Ladies and gentlemen here are your Mexico City Mu-cha-chos! Sponsored by Jarritos! The super good Mexican strawberry beverage! Enjoy this presentation of this International Football League vs the Dallas "Coors Light" Cowboys in Super Bowl LVIII!"

Would I welcome another obscene attempt to sell me something while trying to enjoy a sport? Hell no!

I'm proud to be an uber capitalist. I want people and companies to be able to make all the money they can. But I think this is a horrible idea. It basically makes it look like the team is beholden to "sponsors" and is just tacky in the extreme. I think it's utterly ridiculous that Cam Heyward can't memorialize his dad with his eye black but can be forced to wear a jersey with an Apple logo on it or whatever. Don't go for it Mr. Rooney!

I fully expect it to happen at some point and it will be yet another attempt to ruin sports I lover.

Probably happen but I don't think its going to be like race car drivers, think it will be much more discreet, an Apple logo, not huge, on the shoulder area, something like that.

It will be really hard to stomach if its gaudy like race car drivers.

If the NFL does go to ads on jerseys I feel like nose tackles should be paid more.

The Big Snack could fit twice the sponsors on his rotund body that AB could fit on his wiry frame. Hampton would be like a walking, talking billboard for corporate sponsors.

Not only could you fit an image of an F-350 on Hampton but also list its features, prices by edition and financing rates.

I personally do not like it. Can you imagine William Gay's jersey with a big BIMBO splattered in the front and Gay in the back?

    Browns sponsored by Prozac
Bengals sponsored by John's Bail & Bonds
Ravens sponsored by Escalade - when you need a getaway vehicle but also value style.

Ha. There could be some good sponsors for Gay.

They could personalize each player's sponsor:

Gay - Mean Girls 2 coming to a theater near you

    Harrison - UnitedHealthCare

Bell - Bongs and Such Smoke Shop

    Bryant - 20 Past 4 Smoke Shop

    Deangelo - Twitter

    AB - Dade County Synagogue

    Roethlisberger - McDonald's

I think a little Heinz Ketchup bottle on the Steelers' jerseys would be cute. Haha!

I'm a Penn State fan. We don't even put players names on the jerseys!

The players can't even wear their socks wrong or they're penalized. It would be hard for me to think the league would start this. It would have to be negotiated on the next contract. You know the players would want a cut, that's if they even have a say. I think it would go against the "NFL shield" is the brand theme by Goodell anyway. They're already advertising -- the team's logo and merchandise. I know I wouldn't buy a jersey with Flo from Progressive on my Tuitt jersey.

I'm totally against it as well. But if it goes over big in the NBA ( and I don't see why not) then the greedy ass Jerry Jones will spearhead a drive to do it in the NFL. This type of thing is right up his alley.
