Steelers Sign DL Ricardo Mathews

Read on another site that his PFF ranking is worse than Cam Thomas...not that the ranking means anything, but disappointing signing when we need to address the defense.

I wonder what was the rational in signing that guy?

 

Do they have some sort of outreach program with San Diego to provide homes and jobs to underachieving lineman?

 

Is it this guy? He's the only Ricardo that I know.

 

well since all our CBs are like Tattoo it makes sense I guess....

 

That is KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAN but most of us did yell "BLAAAAAAAAAAAAKE" quite a bit last season.

 

Well if we fill in all the backup gaps elsewhere then we can just draft DBs all 7 rounds?

Not impressed? You're not supposed to be. This is a simple, yeah come to camp and compete for a job signing. He, Walton, Philon, and Lyons are all probably completing for 1 spot on the roster. I think we draft someone in the top 4 rounds and probably add someone after cut downs are made in camp.

 

Last time we signed a Ricardo it was CHOKELY we paid him for a long time to screw up

 

He comes cheap.

 

I've always said that Cam Thomas was only on the team because he was a Make A Wish kid so I may be more right than I know.

 

Everybody knows I'm really short around here so they will probably get a kick out of this. When I was in high school I worked for a guy that called me "Tattoo" because of that show and he would always go "Dee Plane! Dee Plane!" LOL!

Yep, this year it's scaring to know that we have not taken a DB in FA route. At least when we do this we know what we got. Now going into the draft we will take DB's that are not proven NFL players. That's okay but lately we have not been good at this. I.e. Cortez Allen, Shamarko, and now we are relying on last years 2nd round pick who we haven't seen play a down yet. It sort of reminds me when we were relying on Shamarko to take Troy's spot without seeing him play much, and we see where that got us.

I have faith in the team evaluating wide receivers, but DB is not their strong suit.

His nick name is Meatball, so the players should have some fun with that, looks like he is camp fodder to me.....

 

I know one thing Mathews can't be worse than Cam Thomas.
