It's just lame in my opinion. Even if for only a week, it's just another outsourcing of jobs. The economy sucks, so it'd be smarter to generate whatever revenue you can in the states

allowing the teams to still have 8 home games

We're gonna play a game in Mexico and we're gonna make Mexico pay for it.

This is dumb. Jerry Jones has poisoned this league with his greed and its infiltrated the other owners.

If the game is played near Christmas, all the "Chilangos" will be in Acapulco or Cancun!

There has to be an equal number of home and away. If they are both away, then there would have to be a game with 2 home teams. That only works if the Jets play the Giants?

Yeah, I was at the Wembley game and I think you've summed it perfectly. I was actually quite annoyed, the extent to which they made it a 'Vikings' game, even though a hefty percentage of people there were just there to watch an NFL game, and probably didn't mind who it was.

It would be a different kind of game in Mexico, for sure.

(Disagree with the stuck in 2002 thing, btw - that's probably more due to the availability/cost of jerseys)

(Having said that, I'm stuck in c.1994, but that's a taste thing, you know? Nothing much got better after that, in most things.)

There could be a conspiracy theory here. I read the Steelers lease requires them to play 8 home games and they would need permission from the stadium owner to do this. What bigger carrot to dangle to get permission than the prospect of hosting a Super Bowl?

so what about all the businesses and residents that helped pay for the stadium?
how much revenue is generated for the city for a home steelers game?
this is a total slap in the face by the rooneys

If he's angling for a SB and they end up hosting one, then businesses will make that back 10 fold during SB week.

Have to do their part of building the brand . The Team has a great past and jestures like this helps ensure that future .

We have an absolute idiot for a commissioner; get rid of him and the brand instantly looks better.

More and more, I'm thinking this is it. They just can't say it. Although getting a Super Bowl for this is no guarantee, the risk return trade off is good.

Let's go extreme. Pittsburgh gets a Super Bowl and the Steelers are in it. Everyone forgets about the lost home game. Then 31 other message boards would lite up about how the NFL favors the Steelers.

Is there a new stadium in the works? Because a Super Bowl in Pittsburgh is never going to happen because of the weather at that time of year. That last New York Super Bowl took care of that. Unless we've got a new stadium with a roof. Like what the Cardinals have and you can roll that trey in that has the field on it. Love that stadium.

The bar businesses and restaurants may see a slight up tick but why pay for a hotel and rent a car when you're there to watch the home team? 20% of the other teams fans won't even make the trip. Goodell won't let that happen though.

He'll make sure to suspend our players so much during the season that we won't even sniff the playoffs. The fix will be in from game 1.

I don't get it. Why couldn't both teams treat it as an away game?
