i'm the king of my castle and if i want to watch the game she isn't going to stop me.

ok, thats what i say when she isn't there.

she only gives me grief when i yell at the tv. she says they can't hear you. i tell her i beg to differ.

on the weeks i get the ticket's, there is only one thing that matters and that's what time we are leaving.

I love this thread. So many interesting stories.

I used to watch every game courtesy of online streaming, even after I got married. Now that the kids are staring to appear I'll tune in to maybe the primetime games if everything works out. I've missed more football, college and NFL, in this last 2-year period than I have the previous 33. I think it's going to be the new norm for me until probably high school when dad isn't cool enough anymore for the kids!

Wives are a dime a dozen, most of us have had a couple of them already!

No way. Too much time and money invested in this one. She understands that I like my sports but I think that it's overwhelming for her sometimes. NFL, NHL, MLB, NCAAFB, NCAABB eats up 80% of the TV time. The other 20% she can decide. Good thing she's addicted to Facebook.

That's funny! I never heard of it referred to that way. Like a car you have dumped a lot of money into and you just don't think anyone would give you what you think it's worth:smiley1:

I knew an egomaniac that was on his 5th marriage and complaining about her. Told him that maybe his wives weren't the problem.:hmm:

Same boat, different captain here. She'd rather me be obsessed with the Steelers than gambling or anything else.

Yeah my wife is so glad baseball is over for me that she can't hardly contain it. If the Cubs had made the Series I think she might have left me. LOL!

Sadly not an option for the late games for me - gone are the days when I could watch a game until 4 in the morning then get up and teach at 9 the next day.

Because of when game's fall, I'm often having to catch up a bit on gamepass. So I'll be about an hour behind the rest of you watching the game, and my wife will have the live score up on her ipad but not letting me see it, and just asking: "do you want to know who won?"

Yeah, I think that's it with mine as well. Not that I'd be into gambling particularly, but I think if you've got a partner who's going to have a past-time that consumes large amounts of time and attention, there are worse ones to have than following the Steelers.

WOW I guess i'm the lucky one here out of the bunch! My wife is for the Redskins as we are for the Steelers. For both of us Sunday is all about football and nothing else once the season starts. None of our friends understand it, but thats the way it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nothing gets scheduled that will interfere with either game!

Luckily my 2 1/2 year old will watch some, and play some. He enjoys football and hockey. He even grabs his towel and starts to twirl several times during the game! Its great!

I have two ex-wives that used to say the same thing.

Actually my first ex was somewhat funny..... I had recently gotten a Steelers tattoo to highlight our SB wins..... and happened to be out at a friend's party with her..... she was somewhat miffed that I got a Steelers tat and never put her name in ink.....

Ex1 to my friend "Yeah, he just got a big ass Steelers tattoo on his back, and he's never put my name on a tattoo"
Friend to me (look of... uh oh this is gonna be bad)
Me to Ex1 "Uh, that's because I'll always love the Steelers."

I think that was start of the end. :towel:

I agree that life doesn't revolve around the Steelers, but my wife knows if there's a Steelers game on, I'm going to be home watching it, and she usually wants to be there watching it, too.

My wife is from the desert of New Mexico and didn't have a clue about football. She is now almost as much a fan as I am. I'm a lucky man.

I kind of look at the Steelers as a moon that revolves around me.

So, I'll share an amusing and true story about my wife and football. We are recently married, and a few years ago when we were dating she told me that she loves going to UCONN football games with her dad. So, I took her to a game and figured she had some clue about the game because, well, she "loves" going to games. Anyway, I started doing the usual male show off routine and said something like "see how the corners and safeties are lined up? They're showing 3 deep zone coverage." Her response was "uh... which team has the ball?"

I'm happy to report that she has made great progress under my tutelage. I taught her the positions on offense and defense using plastic army men lined up on the coffee table.

I'm having a really hard time wrapping my head around some of the stories I'm reading here. I would never have dreamed of dating a man, let alone marrying one, who wasn't a Steelers fan. Of course, I live in western Pennsylvania, and have always been attracted to athletes and manly men as opposed to geeks and nerds.

I don't understand men who are interested in or marry women who don't share their interests. If it works for you, so be it, but I could never be with a man who didn't like sports.

We have some MLB stuff going on here right now with the Blue Jays.. My wife normally could give a rats hinny about football.. Now she is into this MLB thing and the Jays.. She is telling me how the game is played not ever having played an inning of ball in her life. LOL

    WOW . haha

I married her for her looks and well you know lol.. I could care less if she likes the sport. I will watch the Steelers for the rest of my life and if she wants to join me that is fine but if not I am cool with that as well. It will not change my opinion about her nor the Steelers.

Been a fan too long .. GO STEELERS and GO STEELER woman :)

Your wife and I would get along just fine, except for her not being into football. Baseball is my fave sport. I absolutely love it! I'm a Buccos fan, though.

I think your right there. I cant be a Buccos fan when the Jays are planning. It's the only Canadian team in the MLB.. If Toronto was not in it I would be a Buccos fan for sure :)
