Tomlin was asked if Ben was playing this Sunday and he said we will see so I would say ben will for sure be back for the kc game.

I think us winning this week gave Ben another week
Had we lost to SD Ben would have played sunday

I have my reservations. They keep rushing him back from these injuries and we're always disappointed with the results when he does get out there because it's clear he could have benefited from another week down.

Let him sit 2 more even at 3-4 or 4-3 that's ok and still gives a legit shot as the next 2 games are out of conference anyway.

So tired of watching this staff not think strategically in terms of the season. They just keep saying every game is the same importance, which we all know as well they should, is not true!

I would say 3-4 would be pretty hard to come back from. Would likely have to lose no more then 2 games and still have to play the Bengals twice. Easily could lose one or both of those.

I think 11-5, 10-6 gets you to the play-offs in the AFC as long as your in conference tie-breakers are good. That's why I say really these next 2 NFC games can be put down as a great if you win, but not a season killer if you fall short. The Baltimore loss was a major hit. You win that and these next 2 really don't have that big of a play-off impact.

Exactly! I'm saying we could lose more then 2 with Ben. The schedule isn't exactly the easiest of them all and coaching seems to lose us a game or two all the time. I would feel a lot better if scobee could of hit a field goal right now haha.

    (Assuming we lose next two)

I,ve seen Ben play injured, and i've seen him come back from an injury and play too soon, not a pretty sight, get him healed up and then bring him back, Tomlin knows Ben isnt going to play Sunday, but he wants Arians to spend the time preparing for two QBs, but dont think you want to see Ben hobbling around in the pocket this week because to defenses they are like sharks circling around blood in the water, Ben needs all the time he can get to get healed up before they let the sharks come after him......

i wouldn't count the big guy out. his throwing pregame last week and throwing in 7 v 7 this week means he's keeping his timing with his receivers updated. i wonder what those conversation's with his old buddy are like this week? :smiley1::cool:

Yeah on the timing, but like phill simms said, he's getting used to the knee brace more than anything....

I don't think the line can keep him off the turf against Arizona.

Leave it another week, at least, I'd say.

The good news is, talk of him coming back may at least give the Arizona DC something more to think about.

LOL. There is no way he is playing this weekend, that's just folklore wishful thinking. And he has a 50/50 shot of being able to play against KC. I've been saying all along, if the MCL has healed there is absolutely no reason to have him sit out an extra week, none. The argument that he is often brought back too early holds some water but that's a case where he wasn't fully healed. If he plays bad, it's because he's rusty. But better to get that game out of the way instead of postponing the inevitable and having a bum like vick playing in his absence.

Unless he can't move and becomes a tackling dummy for the Defense. Then they lose him for the whole season...

Trying to remember the last QB I've seen with a brace on in game....was it Marino? Didn't McNabb play with one for awhile?

ben never moves to much anyway. a step or two here and there to make a guy miss, but they will know how much movement he has. i'm not talking having him out there as a peg leg. he's been dropping back and throwing. he's getting comfortable with the brace. as far as the losing him for the season, well that could happen fully healthy too. our best pass blocking line in the league  should be able to keep them off of him. quick throwing offense will do that too.

Let's not forget he depends on his legs to keep him upright when guys are hanging all over him. He may not have that strength and could come down easier as a result. It's a small caveat but can't be dismissed.

Namath had to wear knee braces, his knees were shot his whole career he even had both knees surgically replaced.....

All the history Joe Namath made for the New York Jets, after all, depended on him playing on those wonky knees. His right knee was already gimpy when he signed his superstar-making $427,000 contract (record-setting money in those days) as the No. 1 pick in the 1965 AFL draft. Just a few weeks later, Jets team orthopedist James Nicholas operated on Namath for the first time, to fix the injury he’d suffered during his senior season at Alabama. Nicholas fashioned a special brace to protect Namath’s knee, with the help of the Lenox Hill Hospital’s brace shop, and told the rookie quarterback he might be able to play four years.

Namath went on to play 13 seasons

If we would have lost last week we might have played him. But since we won I think we will wait.

For what it's worth, with the offense under Haley, Ben doesn't have to run around as much.

Strange as it sounds, athletes back in early years as late as the 70s and 80s, before doctors could repair knee ligaments like ACLs they would just remove them, career enders for a lot of players, but amazing as it sounds, some players like john elway played his 15 year career without his ACL...

John Elway didn’t have an ACL for his whole NFL career due too an injury that he suffered in high school. Also DeJuan Blair is an NBA player that doesn’t have an ACL in either knee from once again high school injuries. John Elway and Dejuan Blair played without their ACL’s because of the way their other leg muscles were built. They have very strong quads and hamstrings that set a good enough base for their legs to run and cut on.
