Open up the wallet and sign a quality DB! Tired of the Steelers using draft picks on DB's that never pan out. Just grab someone that is already proven and use those draft picks elsewhere :)

I'd do it in a heartbeat if there was any chance.

    Alas, I don't think it's feasible.

The problem is that you need more than 1 DB to keep from getting lit up like the Vegas strip.

Sign him with what exactly? He's the best in the game and all we can afford are backups as starters.

You can't sign a guy who is already signed with another team.
He is holding out for more money.

Steelers can't afford him, plus it would take a 1st round pick more than likely to get him via a a trade.

Given how we've been drafting in the first round I say go for it because it would keep us from wasting a spot on a guy that doesn't pan out. LOL.

See previous comment of not being able to afford him.

Oh I know we can't but I was just saying that if we could I would be willing to shell out big bucks AND a draft pick. I'm that desperate to see our defense returned to glory. I mean even if this d was just MANAGEABLE with this offense we would be unstoppable. But when you've got guys running for 10yds before a defender even TOUCHES them in our secondary that is a MAJOR problem.

Nah, we'll just draft Su'a Cravens on the cheap.

I would do it. The Steelers suck at drafting anyway!! We desperately need help.

we can't afford him and it sucks because if we got safety help we could be a SB contender. BIG IF's. Just have to be patient and suck for a bit

But the Jets could afford to sign two top experienced corners like Revis and I stand corrected they signed Cromartie instead of Browner, it seems odd we can never afford any top free agents but every body else can especially since several of our players on defense are under rookie cap contracts......

The Jets also don't have a $20 million QB on their roster.

The whole reason that Chancellor is even in this predicament is because the Seahawks are now faced with the task of trying to keep a championship roster together around their own franchise QB who just got his first big payday.

Once Ben retires we can afford all the big name FA's we can handle.

Well the panthers have a 20 million dollar QB and they just paid their linebacker 62 million this week, denver has a high priced QB and they have signed some big contracts, maybe we just dont know how to spend our cap money wisely and have too much dead money from over paying the wrong players...

That has a lot to do with it, too. We bit the bullet for Woodley, of course, and I'm certain there have been others. We just paid Heyward big money so we can only hope he keeps improving. Antonio is next in line and I think we'll tie up a lot of money in him, which will again hamper our ability to sign a big FA for the defensive backfield.

I don't think I've ever been 100% in support of our roster building, but for the most part I think we do at least better than average.

Bens not the only one making money on the team. And they could have all the cap space in the world and the Steelers still would never be big spenders in free agency.

I would love love love Chancellor, but he brings baggage with him and a hefty price tag. They would have to dig deep and ask more than a few players to renegotiate down their contract which would not go over well with the team. We desperately need safety help but unfortunately, this is the position Colbert put the team into. Shamarko not coming along is turning out to be detrimental to the team. A draft pick won't help for the next 2 or 3 years, so a FA is in order, one you can get at a bargain. Too bad there is none to be found. You're just going to have to accept that safety is a major weakness and can't be fixed.

Well sell some of them , fire them, cut there pay , do something . If we had 1 real Safety it would make a huge difference. Then if we could add 1 real CB then we could actually play any scheme . As I have been stating for years we need DB'S and we need them badly...

Financially we can't do it but I would really love to. We need a strong talented leader in our secondary. We currently don't have it.

Just remember how much money we will have to fork over to Antonio Brown. Looking at 16 million per.

For years we were saying that about the OL, and then it was like they opened the floodgates and picked nothing but OL high in the draft. Then it was DL. And then LB. I think DB will be next in line, and with so many of our guys on their last contract, it'll probably this next draft. Golson is just the tip of the iceberg if history holds true. I would be shocked if in 5 years we don't see two 1's and two 2's in our DB crew.

With more restructuring done last week, the Steelers will continue
to be a non player in the FA market.
