I have been so upset about the lost I forgot to start a Redman thread.....I wanted to see how the game unfolded so I forced another look at it.......Redman played very well in all 3 phases he did a real nice job in blitz pick up and he also made a nice catch....

He did his real damage with the Ball of course he broke a bunch of tackles and finished almost every single run going Forward.....

As 1 of his biggest fans I am glad to see him play so well on a big stage,,,,I just hate his post season was cut short.....This pains me because I think what if he got a few more totes???what if he had a few screen plays?what if we had ran the ball at the end of the game instead of the strip sack??

Well I guess I have a long time to think about those things,,,,but one thing that is clear Redman is a very good RB and someone on the Steeler's staff needs to get him more involed in the game plan....

I am sending ED a messeage to ask BA and Coach T why this Team isn't capable of a RB screen?I have seen it ran with zero OL all the way up to 4 and anything in between.....Surely a NFL Team can devise a way that our current Team can run a screen.....

At the end of the game I was thinking what a pefect time to run the coverage off and call a Screen a 10 yard gain would have gave us a great chance to win the game.....

Anyway just wanted to get a TY thread out to Red and to let him know his great effort did not go unnoticed......Oh and by the way note to other Teams as Redman stated he will be working hard to get his Power up ,,,so the only savior you will have is BA,,,,,,because when they call Red's # it will be like a nightmare coming at you next year......

Yes he will Improve that much again this year....Last year he worked on his condition and we all seen how much better that got,,,,,,now take the power he already has and increase that.....He will also gain a little more speed working on his Power,,,,,,if used correctly Redman could gain 2 k next year even under BA I think he gets 1400......

Yes, I agree- love the no chuking and jiving that I have seen forever with Mendy. Just hit the hole and keep your shoulders square. Who the hell taught Mendy that "willie parker" and the spin move?

I was simply to upset ,,lol..................Now if Curtis Brown will become the player I see on tape all the better.....I wished TSS would come back as all my guys are starting to show promise.....DHB is coming along as well and Taylor Mays is starting to understand the game as well think......

So IMO I have 1 for sure good pimp in Redman and I think the others will get there as well...A s stated the 1 I really expect bigger things from next year is CB......If the others fail so what they are not Steelers,,,,I will be happy to just keep getting those right....Also don't forget I thought AB would end up being better than Wallace...LOL.......Seems we got a good look at that as well this year...LOL..

I've always liked Redman and he had a great game. I believe he can be a 20-25 carries a game type back, if we'd use him that way.

And we'll have to lean on him next season. I don't see Mendy coming back to form for a while.

IMO - Redman's performance in the playoff game as well as Cleveland and other opportunities make me comfortable giving him the "feature back" position. He runs the way we expect a Steeler back to run and gives us an element in the running game that is lacking with Mendenhall. On top of that, a RB with an ACL to me is damaged goods. I don't see his career going upward. I don't think he'll ever match up to what is expected of him. Again IMO - Redman is "the guy" and maybe it's time to cut ties with Mendenhall.

Another point - Mendenhall has never really earned the "affection" of the fans that many Steelers players have. I wouldn't blink if he were gone.

It will probably shock you but I AGREE with almost everything you said here LOL! I must admit though it's quite different from you other posts advocating that Redman packs his bags and leaves because he won't be used next year. Looks like you're finally starting to recover from the loss :lolol:

I thought I read that Redman has a contract where he has no choice but to accept the minimum we offer him....I cant remember what the writer of the article called it though.

I like Redman and Mendy, it pains me to see the Steelers using their offense so ineffectively. The combination of finesse runner like Menday and Bruiser like Redman + properly using the playaction could make this offense unstoppable. The team wouldn't even have to convert to a running team to do this. They just need to effectively plan vs the weakness of the D they are playing. Example, when you play a terrible run D you bust them up with redman and mendy using RB screens. You tear through the field and batter their D. After about 6-7 hard runs or screens it opens up the Defense for a playaction so Arians and Ben can bombs away to whoever they want. I am #1 set on getting rid of Arians, however if he made very small adjustments he could change my opinion of him. The only thing the steelers lack is height in the redzone. Other teams put double TE sets in the redzone to create mismatches. We put Heath and Johnson on the bench and get all the small guys out there.

He needs to make major adjustments in his philosophy and theres no way he can become a good game planner and situational playcaller overnite, you either have it or you don't.It's too late to be teaching this old dog new tricks. Just remember his motto "if it makes sense do the opposite, they'll never expect it" meanwhile you have announcers calling out our plays before they happen.(D.R.B.A.I.)

RB is going to be an interesting position come training camp next year, especially if Moore isn't resigned and Mendy isn't ready. Redman will have the upper hand for the #1 spot, but every other position may be up for grabs. Clay, Dwyer, Spawn and Batch will all want to make the team, and this doesn't include any UDFAs we might sign. Could be interesting to watch.

Yes Red is the man. He did work in the Denver game. I see him as the starter next year. Hopefully, the Steelers will trade Mendenhall for 2 extra picks and then draft Baylor Running Back Terrance Ganaway 6-0, 240lbs and fast. He is a Bettis type but much faster. He was the MVP of Baylor's bowl game even with RG III the Heisman Trpphy winner having a great game. He is the perfect back to work with Redman to make the Steelers have a great 1, 2, 3, punch along with Baron Batch. Batch will be Moore's replacement and Ganaway will be Mendenhall's replacement.

This is why we need a new OC who knows how to develop a running game, and how to utilize the RB's in the passing game, screens, and short passes out of the backfield.

While Redman has shown promise and is a solid player...after just 1 game starting full time...I'm not ready to can Mendy just yet.

I agree....this is the amount of carries per game each back will see in Arians 2012 offense.

    :frustrated:

Redman is an exclusive rights free agent, so he won't be going anywhere.

some on various boards (me being one of the biggest advocates) have been pimping redman for some time. i have never fallen in love with mendenhall. hell, not even close. he seems to be as removed from his teammates as kordell was. his weird liberal rants about bin laden and his tweets about oral sex didn't endear him to the public. he's kind of an aloof dude as his dating profile would likely read: enjoys writing poetry, taking dance classes, conspiracy theories, and fumbling at the most inopportune time possible.

that aside, i just don't think he's that good. i recently watched my dvd of the '94 afc divisional playoff game where we trounced the clowns and i think i came seven times watching our o-line running down the field paving the way for barry foster. it looked like a damn police escort. i strongly believe we should take that 'elite rb' money mendy would be owed after next season and put it towards o-linemen. i didn't miss a game in the 90's and i remember what a great o-line looked like. i also remember that it didn't matter whether a pig farmer from arkansas, leroy thompson, fred mcafee, erric pegram, richard huntley, bam morris, or anyone else was carrying the football . . . they were racking up 100yrd games with ease because our o-line was so dominant. i'd rather employ a rb-by-committee with redman, dwyer, and batch (or clay?) than throw money mendenhall's way.

mendy, quite simply, is overrated. how much do yinz miss willie parker? most screamed he wasn't a full-time back. well, in FWP's first two years as a starter, he accumulated more yards than mendy in his first two. mendy just isn't worth the beaucoup bucks. launch him, invest in o-line. hell, we're a passing team now anyways. why invest 'elite rb' money in mendy?

The OL isn't suffering because of lack of financial investment, and Mendenhall isn't making all that much per year. Do you have any idea how much we've paid the likes of Starks ($7 mil/per), Keomeatu ($4 mil/per), Mahan ($3.4 mil/per), Hartwig ($3.3 mil/per), Pouncey ($3.5 mil/per), Colon($6 mil/per)? That's a ton of dough for some terrible players. I even like Colon, but that's too much money for him. Only one of those guys deserves it. Meanwhile Mendenhall has been making $2.5 million per season. And that's the problem? What we need is to pay good players instead of paying bad players good money to make them appear good on paper (cough-KEMO-cough).

He's used wrong, and even those who don't like him will cop to that. The good news is that we'll likely be able to re-sign him for less than he would go for had we been using him right all along, plus his knee injury. Then again, depending on the price that might only be a good idea if we actually start using him right, which.... :frustrated: will probably never happen.

You say he's overrated, I say he's underrated. Again, even most of his detractors will tell you that he has "the potential" and "ability" to be a top 10 or top 5 RB, but he doesn't live up to it. I think he is that back, he just gets no help from his OL, OC or QB.

I like the comparison to Kordell. He got absolutely railroaded by this fan base. What a bunch of :bscow: we :herewego: can be.

Does that really matter though? Steeler fans (like all fans) are morons, and always have been. Sorry guys, but you know it's true. Ben has never earned my "affection" for a minute. I can't stand the guy and never could, even before the rape accusations. I think he's a big fat stubborn phony. But unless they are morally reprehensible Rae Carruth style, I think it's wise to keep the personal talk and the strategy talk separate.

Redman had a great game no doubt.I would'nt pencil him in as our starter just yet? He had 1 good game.I like Mendy, and I hope he can come back from his ACL? Who knows though? I'm intrigued with Baron Batch.Everything I've heard about him is good.I hope he has a good camp next year?

Only thing about Redman, why can't BA and Tomlin see what everbody else sees and give Redman more plays during the season. Why did it take an injury to Mendy for Redman to get more carries during the regualar season, exspecially when Mendy was dancing and struggling, at least in short yardage situations. I just don't see what the coaches are looking at sometimes. Please someone tell me why Redman didn't get more carries during the year?

I think it will be red, dwyer, and batch next year with clay in reserve. Dwyer is better on special teams then clay and he showed he has some break away speed.
