I read that he reported to camp at 258 lbs, he said he's 15 lbs heavier than last season. I saw a picture of him and he does look bigger, I hope this leads to more production out of him. Maybe James Harrison shared some of his HGH errr I mean workout regimen with Jarvis :roflmao:while they were training in Arizona.

You see, if the title of this thread had anything to do with JJ looking fat, or out of shape, there would be 20 pages of replies on it...

With the drafting of Dupree this is a make or break year for J.J.He best step up or he may be looking for work next season.

Exactly and he will have trouble finding work if the body of his work does not improve dramatically

Not great production from Jones in camp. At this point Harrison and Moats will be starting the season. Jones hasn't shown he is a step up. Not good...

What are you basing this on? I've read from multiple sources Jarvis looks bigger and stronger and has been playing well.

    From the Post-Gazette:

Jarvis Jones cannot wait to play against the Minnesota Vikings Sunday night in Canton, Ohio. Neither can his position coach, Joey Porter, who pulls no punches about the high expectations the Steelers have for this former first-round draft choice.

For one, Jones needs to get away from his own offensive teammates. It was somewhat of a difficult first week in pads for the Steelers’ starting right outside linebacker, their first-round draft choice in 2013. By most accounts, Jones did not win many of the duels in the popular backs-on-backers drills or when he lined up against such left tackles as Kelvin Beachum and Alejandro Villanueva.

Tomlin stating that James Harrison and Arthur Moats will start the season.

Where was Jones last night? Inactive. Guess he doesn't need the reps...

I hope he can take the next step and show why they drafted him in the 1st round. To me, it doesn't look that way. I would like to be proven wrong...

When did Tomlin state that Harrison would start over Jarvis?

No way Harrison starts week one over Jarvis. For one thing that didn't happen LAST season when James was a year younger and Jarvis was a year more inexperienced. Jarvis was out there from the first snap of the season until the injury. For another thing Tomlin and Butler have openly stated several times this year that Harrison is going to be on a limited number of snaps every week to preserve him and he won't be a full time player. I know that was said in the past and he ended up starting but that was because Jarvis went on IR. If he's healthy he's going to start for now. If he stinks for multiple games, then they might go back on that and reconsider but until then it's his. Tomlin loves to make comments like that to light a fire under a younger guy and motivate him.

He didn't say that. The author is trying to force that, but he straight up says in the interview sound bite that they'll start the younger guys if they're mentally ready. If you click play, it'll jump right to that portion of the segment.

Harrison wasn't on the roster to start last season. He came back after Jarvis went down.

Butler didn't say that at all. That was a complete inference by the author of that article. He used Jarvis as an example from 2 years ago. It seems to me that the comparison is Moats over Dupree, not Harrison over Jarvis.

The author doesn't even consider that, though. Either he's trying to drum up drama, or it went right over his head.
