I could see this team going to at least 2 Super Bowls in the next few years, and they're capable of winning it also. The pressure is on DC Butler and all the young players on defense to step up, they already have one of the best offenses in the NFL. After extending Ben, Heyward and Tomlin, Colbert I like the direction they're headed.

How's come there is pressure on Coach Butler and not Coach T?
Isn't he the man in charge? How's come Coach T always gets a pass?

Its all about the development of the defense....and if the offense can put up 30 pts a game then I like our odds.

The Steelers have always believed in building for long term success rather than instant gratification signings, which is why they have had so many successful years in a row historically. Yeah I'm sure it would feel awesome to go out and go Dan Snyder on the free agent market and snap up several top players for huge money. They problem is that you have a 2-3 year window to win it all because all those players are going to be gone by then with their huge salaries.

While the "Steeler" way of building only through the draft and mid level free agents here and there can be frustrating, it builds an actual foundation rather than something that is going to crumble quickly and leave them rebuilding from scratch every 4 years.

I'd like to drink the Koolaid, but the Defense has a lot of questions.... before declaring them super bowl bound. Let's start with winning a playoff game before the end of the decade.

It has been awhile since we won one lol.
I think every fan of most teams say they will win "this" year. I hear Cowboys fans say it every year, even if they went 6-10 prior. Or when they just lost their best RB lol.

In my mind the story of the current defensive problems can be summed up (as strange as it sounds) by having too much loyalty. I kinda saw it coming a few years ago when they just kept relying on guys who had been the backbone of the team for so many years but were obviously on the downside of their career and not working on bringing young guys in to be ready when they were gone. I can appreciate taking care of the guys who took care of you for so long, but you can't be worried about bringing new guys in to learn at those positions before their time is up. That cupboard was bare beneath those guys.

I think they didn't want to insult anyone or hurt anyone's feelings at draft time, but that's the reason they have had to build a new defense almost from the ground up. On the positive side, I think the D Line is built. Heyward and Tuitt are gonna be good hopefully for a lot of years. Either McClendon or McCullers will be able to man the NT position fine...(Just realized they both have Mc names....The Big Macs perhaps? Excuse me while I dodge these tomatos) The LB's are obviously a work in progress but there is hope and potential there. On the negative, the secondary is one great big question mark. Until they figure that out, I think the offense will have to continue carrying them awhile longer. Let's hope at least 1 of the 3 DB's they just drafted turns into a solid starter That would put them on the right track at least. Shamarko and Cortez are the wild cards in the situation. Our year will likely make or break with those two.

Coach T doesn't get a pass, the pressure is on Butler because he's a first year DC replacing a hall of fame DC. And the defense is the part of the team that needs to improve for the Steelers to win in the playoffs.

I am scared because Mike Greenberg picked us for the Super Bowl
That's a Kiss of Death. We gotta get him to change his mind. A Steeler Fan tweeted him to please change his pick ha.
